
Financial Planning Analyst

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Financial Analyst to join our team. This role is designed for someone who excels at interpreting complex financial data, building financial models, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in financial analysis, data visualization, and forecasting to help the organization improve financial performance and identify key opportunities for growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Data Interpretation & Analysis: Analyze large datasets from various financial sources (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, cash flows) to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies that impact financial performance. Provide insights and recommendations based on these analysis.
- Financial Modeling & Forecasting: Build and maintain dynamic financial models to forecast financial performance, including revenue, expenses, cash flow, and profitability. Use historical data to develop accurate projections and support business planning.
- Performance Evaluation & Variance Analysis: Track actual financial performance against forecasts and budgets. Perform variance analysis to understand deviations, identify areas for improvement, and propose corrective actions to management.
- Data Visualization & Reporting: Present financial data in clear, visually compelling formats (e.g., dashboards, charts, graphs) that make complex data accessible to stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Create regular financial reports to track key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial trends.
- Decision Support: Provide actionable financial insights to guide business decisions, including resource allocation, project prioritization, and investment opportunities. Partner with business leaders to align financial analysis with overall strategic goals.
- Risk Identification & Mitigation: Identify financial risks by monitoring key metrics, such as cash flow, profitability, and cost trends. Develop strategies to mitigate potential risks and ensure financial stability.
- Collaboration with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with finance, accounting, and other departments to gather data, understand business needs, and ensure financial goals are met. Assist with the financial aspects of budgeting and project management.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and recommend improvements to financial reporting processes, data management systems, and financial modeling techniques to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (Advanced degree or professional certifications like CFA, CPA, or similar are a plus).
- Experience: 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, with a focus on data interpretation, forecasting, and financial reporting. Experience in a dynamic business environment or professional services is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills:Strong SQL skills – ability to write and optimize complex queries, especially in gold layer data warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, BigQuery, or similar). Experience with financial software such as Oracle and SAP. Familiarity with data visualization tools like Power BI and Tableau. Knowledge of statistics, including regression analysis, probability distributions, and hypothesis testing for financial modeling and forecasting.
- Financial Acumen: Good understanding of financial principles, financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis. Knowledge of accounting principles (e.g., GAAP, IFRS) is essential.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze large datasets, extract meaningful insights, and synthesize information into clear, actionable recommendations. Strong understanding of data modeling principles, ensuring efficient data structuring and optimization for financial analysis.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with financial data and preparing reports.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think critically, identify potential financial risks, and proactively develop solutions to address challenges.
