
(RD) Senior Engineering Manager
The Job in Short
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will act as a "mini-CTO" for our Payments domain, leading engineering teams and driving the technical strategy to deliver best-in-class software for our global customers. This is a key leadership position where you'll be responsible for the effective operation of your development teams under your leadership, ensuring our engineering teams are set up for high performance and can iteratively deliver customer value. You will lead and coach engineering managers and teams, focusing on continuous improvement in both people and processes.
You will be a key leader in the value stream, responsible for defining the technical vision and roadmap to support the company's overall strategy. You will champion modern software development practices, including a bias for action and continuous delivery, while ensuring our products exceed customer expectations in terms of security, reliability, and quality.
What You'll Do
- Lead Engineering Excellence: Provide technical leadership across multiple teams, ensuring our engineering practices and technical standards are of the highest quality. You will drive forward the use of automation and continuously optimize our processes for quality, predictability, and output.
- Build High-Performing Teams: Lead, coach, and inspire a team of engineering managers and software engineers. You'll focus on talent acquisition and management, ensuring we hire and retain the best talent to build a culture of high performance and continuous learning.
- Drive Strategic Delivery: Own the delivery commitment for your value stream, ensuring teams deliver on their promises. You'll collaborate with product and architectural leaders to set the strategic direction and drive R&D-level initiatives from inception to completion, balancing the need for fast delivery with technical quality.
- Embody Our Values: You'll be a role model for our core values: putting customers first, starting with the why, having a bias for action, raising the bar, collaborating as one, keeping it simple, and telling it like it is.
Who You Are
- You have 5+ years of experience in an Engineering Leadership role within a product organization, with a strong background in payments, banking, or SaaS.
- You have prior hands-on software engineering experience and a deep understanding of software engineering principles, practices, patterns, and techniques.
- You have a proven track record of managing other engineering managers and driving cross-team and value stream improvements.
- You are an expert in Agile methodologies like Scrum or Kanban, and technical practices such as continuous integration, automated testing, and release management.
- You are a natural coach who guides teams to self-evaluate performance and own their solutions, always challenging the "that's how we've always done it" mindset. You are committed to raising the bar and inspiring others.
- You possess excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of navigating stakeholders from your team members to senior leadership.
- You are an effective decision-maker, able to solve complex problems by analyzing multiple options and selecting the best one based on data and collaboration.
