What We're Looking For

As a Finance Manager, you will be looking after the day to day finance operations of a >$6m per year profitable business unit of the SKUTOPIA group and a subsidiary entity. 

In your role you will be expected to:

Own end-to-end processes for the Workit business unit including:

Revenue and Receivables

• you will manage end to end revenue processes from the raising of new / revised contracts in Office RnD (our system)
• invoicing our clients
• Following up to ensure prompt payment.
• You will be responsible for owning and refining processes in this space to ensure that receivables days remain low and our workit team follow strict processes for slow payers.

Purchasing and Payables

• You help design and maintain a Workit purchase to pay process working with our group bookkeeper to ensure that Purchase orders are raised and supplier invoices are approved and paid on time.
• You will make sure that purchases of a capital nature are capitalized and depreciated in line with group policy

Bank Reconciliations

• You help design and maintain a Workit bank reconciliation process working with our Group finance team to ensure that all receipts and payments are reconciled just in time and at month end.
• You will follow up with people in the business to ensure that all receipts and invoices are received and uploaded to our systems (Precoro and Xero) in support of all payments made.

Month End Processes and Management Reporting

• You will own the entire month end process for the Workit division which will include
• Documenting and posting manual journals for all month end adjustments required
• Processing the department P&L and Balance Sheet and reviewing for any inconsistencies
• This may include a review and implementation of a new processes for tagging individual transactions so that underlying transactions are included in the Workit department management reports by default
• You will work with and recommend process improvements to our group finance department
• Analysing performance, preparing a monthly pack and making recommendations to Workit management on a monthly basis

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Prepare monthly financial reports and associated analysis recommending actions to the finance and workit teams.
• Monitor occupancy and prepare a suite of financial metrics that adequately represent the business performance for discussion with central finance and the workit management team each month
• Prepare supporting schedules to the financial information to facilitate discussion on areas of importance such as occupancy and the collection of amounts owed

Technical Accounting

• From time to time you may be required to research and implement the correct technical accounting treatment of non-standard transactions to assist with the accounting and reporting of Workit to the group finance team.
• Assistance will be provided by the group finance team where required.
• Accounting will be under AASB which is an IFRS equivalent in Australia.

General Workit Processes

• You will work with the Workit Business Manager on the border workit x finance processes to make sure these stay relevant and fit for purpose, suggesting improvements where necessary based on your experience.

Own the end to end accounting, reporting and ongoing tax compliance for the Miscreants subsidiary entity.

• Work with the Miscreants manager to make sure that all transactions are booked correctly and that there are reasonable processes in place to capture all transactions in accordance with accounting standards.
• Reconcile all journals in the accounting system and perform month end reconciliations
• Prepare monthly management accounts and associated analysis
• Discuss monthly performance with the Workit Commercial Manager and recommend improvements in processes and procedures.
• Ensure Miscreants continues to operate profitably, recommending action where this is not the case.
• Prepare annual financial statements for miscreants Pty Ltd for consolidation in to the SKUTOPIA Pty Ltd financial statements
• Prepare the quarterly activity statements for filing with the ATO and ensure all payment to the ATO are made on time.

Reporting Lines

In your role you will report directly to the Head of Finance of the SKUTOPIA Group. You will also have a reporting line to the Workit Business Manager and be expected to work closely / independently with the management team of Workit.

An ideal candidate will have the following skills

• Ability to work independently 
• Good stakeholder management and an ability to assess the right time / way to involve stakeholders in day to day work
• Commercial acumen with an ability to balance the commercial reality of running a business with the requirements of the finance team more broadly
• Strong technical ability from an accounting craft perspective (you will possess a qualification in Accounting or equivalent)
• Communication and influence - you will possess the ability to communicate clearly with a broad range of stakeholders and an ability to influence decision making in the Workit business unit and the finance team more broadly.
• Team player - you will be part of a growing finance team and we would love you to be involved directly in strategy setting and planning for the broader team, providing your experience and input on goal setting and quarterly planning activities.
• Be proficient in microsoft excel and xero accounting system
