So, what will your new role look like?   

As a specialized accountant within the Finance team at Workleap, your primary responsibility is to support the company’s payroll processing and expense accounting sub-functions, while ensuring the accuracy of the company’s financial records. You will work closely with other team members to support daily accounting operations and the monthly closing process. The role of a specialized accountant requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a high level of accountability to achieve desired outcomes. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Collaborate with the Payroll Manager to execute payroll processing, ensure accurate and timely payments, and manage employee data in systems. 
  • Verify and reconcile payroll data to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulations. 
  • Record, categorize and reconcile employee expense reports and credit card transactions in the accounting system. 
  • Process supplier invoices, track approvals, and manage payments while correctly coding expenses to the general ledger. 
  • Participate in monthly and annual closings by preparing accounting entries and reconciling payroll and expense accounts. 
  • Contribute to the optimization and automation of payroll and expense management processes. 
  • Support tax compliance and participate in updating payroll and expense policies.

Qualifications 

  • You have an accounting background (university or college). CPA designation not required. 
  • You have 2 to 3 years' experience in a payroll processing role. 
  • You are bilingual in English and French (written and oral communication). 
  • You have strong organizational skills.  
  • You enjoy teamwork.   
  • You're solution-oriented.   
  • You can adapt quickly.   
  • You want to improve every day.   
  • You are familiar with the Office suite and Excel.   
  • You are agile with technology.  

Nice to Have: 

  • Experience with the Employeur D payroll system (Desjardins) 
  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) designation 
  • Good knowledge of Xero or Netsuite ERP 
  • Experience with pan-Canadian and U.S. payroll.
