Engineering Manager

Omaha, Nebraska, United States

Engineering Manager

Omaha · Full-Time

We’re looking for an experienced and driven Engineering Manager to lead a talented team of engineers building Workshop’s core product. You’ll work closely with our engineering leadership to shape a culture that’s ambitious, collaborative, and genuinely fun to be part of.

This isn’t a role for someone who wants to manage from a distance. You’ll be hands-on — removing blockers, sharpening processes, mentoring engineers, and partnering closely with Product to ship things customers actually love. If you’re energized by building great teams and great software, this role is for you.

What you’ll do

  • Lead an established team of engineers building Workshop’s core features — including working with engineering leadership to set direction and grow the team over time
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, ownership, and continuous improvement — the kind of team people are proud to be part of
  • Drive projects to the finish line and actively remove blockers along the way
  • Collaborate with product management to plan, prioritize, and execute — with a strong sense of what’s worth building and why
  • Recruit, mentor, and support engineers at every stage of their careers at Workshop
  • Champion smart use of AI tools to accelerate development, raise code quality, and help the team explore what’s possible — we’re building an AI-powered product, and we expect our engineering culture to reflect that
  • Improve how the team works: evaluate existing processes, cut the stuff that adds friction, and reinforce the stuff that actually helps

What we’re looking for

  • 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams — you know what it takes to build and keep a high-performing team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust quickly with engineers, product partners, and leadership alike
  • A genuine excitement about technology — you get lit up when you hear about novel or interesting applications of software, whether that’s in a product meeting or over lunch
  • Deep familiarity with development lifecycle processes — you know what a burndown chart is, but you also know when applying too much process does more harm than good
  • The ability to walk the line between business and engineering — you’re comfortable saying “we should build that” and equally comfortable saying “we shouldn’t,” and customers are always part of that equation
  • A track record of coaching and growing engineers, not just managing them

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Highly competitive compensation
  • Healthcare
  • Stock options
  • Unlimited vacation
