What you'll be doing:
To join and set up a growing portfolio of managed risks, robust risk monitoring, reporting and governance while actively advocating and leading on all foreign exchange or ‘FX’ related risk management and knowledge at WPP Group. Manage the UK Treasury team.
You will report into the Group Treasurer, key responsibilities are:
Risk management
- Invest time working through WPP commercial or balance sheet structures to advise on direct or embedded currency risks and ways to restructure or mitigate building an FX risk management portfolio.
- Understand and evaluate political and macro-economic disruptive trends on market.
- Lead risk management education and awareness and in particular with our internal operating companies providing support and materials on both transactional and translational FX risks.
- Once established lead on the design of WPP’s FX hedging program: including goal setting, governance, the scope of risk management, monitoring and reporting, cost effectiveness and ‘carry’ while ensuring compliance with policy
- Utilise approved financial instruments to hedge risks and scope new ones.
- Support the communication and implementation of Group Treasury policy.
- Consider tax implications of Treasury hedging activities with Group Tax.
Business partnering
- Build deep relationship with CFO's and FD's across diverse networks and influence decisions.
- Develop relationship with regional banks bringing their advice and expertise to bear for risk management or other purposes.
- Monitor and assess the impact of local market conditions such as regulation, currency controls and advise on this internally with the support of the WPP bank group.
- Lead on the creation of Treasury Risk reporting on a weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc basis for relevant operating companies and internal departments at an operational and senior level.
- Help the integration, development and reporting of this in the central treasury system, IT2 and in the Treasury Shared Services team in Bengaluru.
Treasury Systems and Technology
- Optimization use of the the global treasury management systems (TMS) ensuring Global standardization across the platform.
- Manage the UK Treasury team with a focus on business partnering, systems and FX dealing ensuring risk, controls and global requirements are balanced.
- Working with Finance, Finance shared services and the ERP Transformation team on joint or Treasury led developments.
Ad hoc
- Annual and interim Dividend co-ordination with Company Secretariat & Registrars for smooth settlement of funds transfer.
- Oversee settlement/confirmations for bonds, swaps and any other material HQ transactions.
- Compliance with regulatory requirements, bank KYC and internal controls for UK or Group activities as required.
What you'll need:
- Experience within a treasury department of an international business.
- Knowledge and experience of treasury management including managing loans, derivative arrangements, liquidity, and cash flow forecasting.
- Relevant risk management experience covering: FX exposure identification (embedded and direct), Business partnering (FX or otherwise), FX policy and framework development, Establishing and / or running a senior level risk management governance forum.
- Knowledge of derivatives and hedging currency exposures directly or indirectly.
- Knowledge of accounting in relation to FX gains and losses and where they arise.
- Knowledge of a number of currency markets including emerging markets.
- Experience in managing banking relationship and using banks to advise on risk management.
- Exposure to Treasury management systems (IT2).
- Ability to partner with company Directors, CFOs and high-level executives.
