Why we're hiring:
Our Finance team, based on London's enviable Southbank are hiring a Senior Corporate Reporting Accountant. This hybrid role is responsible for WPP HQ entities reporting, monthly management accounting and reporting. This is an exciting time to join as the department goes through a period of change, embedding new methods of working.
What you'll be doing:
This role will report to the Corporate Reporting Manager. Key ongoing duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Production of the monthly management accounts for HQ entities P&L and month end commentary analysis
· Preparation of annual budget and quarterly forecasts for their areas
· Reporting on both ICS and BFC monthly
· Supporting the reconciliation of the monthly payroll changes and calculations, liaising with HR and Payroll to resolve any issues to ensure completeness.
· Working with SSC in accruing/prepaying of monthly costs, preparing journals for specific departments and producing monthly reporting packs and commentary analysis on variances against budget and proforma.
· Responsibility for ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are completed, reviewed, and signed off on a monthly basis. That any actions resulting from sign off are completed in a timely manner.
· Monthly management accounts upload to the consolidation database (BFC) and reconciliation to local ledger (Dynamics D365).
· Preparation of VAT quarterly
· Sole responsibility for the accounting of Board costs and Intercompany loans
· Accruing/prepaying of monthly cost/revenue, preparing journals
· Calculating monthly interest on internal loans, preparing journals and reconciliations
· Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations
· Input all Staff costs and preparing PSA yearly
· Inputting a small number of external charges monthly
· Raising the occasional billings to opcos
· Journal checking and approvals for other team members
· Dealing with queries from both external suppliers and opcos on both billings and internal loans when required
· Operating within a robust SOX control environment and helping to develop best practice.
· Taking on new responsibilities as tasks are rotated between team members.
· Ad hoc duties including raising monthly payment runs, balance sheet reconciliations, supporting members of the team in their duties, journal checking and approvals.
What you'll need:
· ACCA or similar accounting qualification
· Staff cost knowledge is preferable, but not essential
· Experience of preparing Statutory accounts
· Experience in the month end process, accruals, and prepayments
· Someone who is flexible and willing to help in other areas during busy periods
· A change champion who looks at current processes and workflows and makes recommendations for improving them where appropriate.
