What you will be doing:

Lead and shape indirect tax strategy at WPP. As VP, US Indirect Tax, you'll play a vital role in optimizing our global tax posture. Reporting to the Senior Vice President – Tax Counsel, you'll lead a team in the US and India, driving key initiatives including:

  • Strategic Guidance: Providing expert indirect tax counsel on procurement and client contracts, ensuring alignment with WPP policy.
  • Process Improvement: Enhancing company-wide indirect tax policies, maintaining robust SOX controls, and overseeing efficient reserves and recharge processes.
  • Audit Management: Confidently managing indirect tax audits and notices, minimizing risk and ensuring compliance.
  • Nexus Evaluation & Registration: Determining nexus for US entities and coordinating necessary registrations.
  • Regulatory Monitoring & Implementation: Staying ahead of evolving indirect tax laws and regulations, implementing necessary updates in our ERP finance systems, including the rollout of our new tax engine.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Supervising and mentoring a high-performing team in the US and India, reviewing and approving indirect tax filings.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering with internal and external stakeholders to provide timely and accurate information.

What you'll need:

Ready to make a difference? We're looking for a collaborative and driven tax professional with:

  • Solid Foundation: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation from an accredited college/university. A post-graduate degree (MS Tax) or CPA is a plus.
  • Big Four Experience: Seven or more years of experience in public accounting at a Big Four firm.
  • Indirect Tax Expertise: Deep understanding of US indirect tax rules and reporting obligations.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Visio, and PowerPoint) and experience with Thomson Reuters OneSource Tax Engine.
  • Problem-Solving Prowess: Strong analytical and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Leadership Experience: Proven ability to manage large onshore and offshore teams.
  • Proactive Approach: Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

The compensation for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
