What you'll be doing:

The Media Reporting team is responsible for the timely delivery of accurate and high-quality month end accounting tasks, selection of balance sheet accounts reconciliations, data entry for monthly actuals, and intercompany reporting for WPP Media entities and operating companies.

The department liaises with CFO’s, Finance Directors, Finance teams, WPP Group, WPP Group Reporting, External auditors, internal auditors and with the various Finance teams in the SSC constantly throughout the year.

The Reporting Accountant will be responsible for 1-3 media entities for preparation of a selection of month – end schedules and ensuring its reconciliation with Media Reporting System we use (DDS) and later full reconciliation with Group Reporting system (BFC) all according with our procedures and our Target Operating Model (TOM).

This role will report into the Media Reporting Manager.

Monthly corporate reporting:

  • Data entry and the submissions of all month-end schedules into the WPP group reporting system (BFC) and ensuring they are complete and accurate before publication.
  • Journal posting in adherence to the WPP internal controls (SOX & ICFR).
  • Ensuring that all balance sheet reconciliations supported by the SSC are completed accurately and in line with the month-end timetable.
  • Reviewing the reconciliation of intercompany reporting on DDS and BFC ensuring Group Balances reconcile and are documented appropriately.
  • Identify fixed assets on ledger and add to Excel fixed asset register.
  • Identify prepayments on ledger throughout the month, create and post journal.
  • Inputting Agency actuals in Cartesis to strict deadlines (P&L, Balance sheet).

Bank accounts:

  • Coordinate daily review and authorization of payments in line with agreed timelines and month-end bank reconciliations.

What you'll need:

  • Experience as assistant management accountant or management accountant in a smaller organization looking to expand your career in the larger organization.
  • Qualification starting at minimum Level 3 AAT – part qualified ACCA or CIMA.
  • Experience of accounting/bookkeeping duties including reconciliations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively manage stakeholder relationships.
  • Excel intermediate – to an advanced level (V-Lookups, pivot tables and conditional formatting as examples of excel tools that should be known).
