What you'll be doing:

In this role, you’ll design and build secure, scalable applications using modern serverless and containerised patterns - taking solutions from concept to production with high autonomy and ownership. You’ll work alongside multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges and contribute to platform evolution across our organisation.

• Developing complex cloud‑native serverless applications
• Developing containerised solutions in Kubernetes
• Writing and maintaining solutions in Python and Typescript
• Using serverless technologies:
  • API management
  • Serverless functions
  • Event‑driven architectures
  • Serverless databases and document store

• Implementing integration patterns from modern SaaS APIs (GraphQL) to traditional FTP‑based integrations
• Applying DevOps principles so teams can manage infrastructure directly using Git
• Using Terraform for provisioning and managing cloud resources
• Leveraging design patterns and reference architectures to design scalable and efficient cloud infrastructure
• Working with a strong, test‑driven, quality‑first mindset
• Communicating effectively with excellent written and verbal skills
• Using Diagrams‑as‑Code to document infrastructure architecture
• Designing solutions with cross‑cutting concerns in mind such as observability and system security
• Taking ownership of deployments in a true DevOps model

What you'll need:

• Experience deploying cloud infrastructure across Azure, AWS and/or GCP
• Real-world development experience using Python and Docker
• Familiarity with Kubernetes deployments and container orchestration fundamentals
• Knowledge of serverless functions, queues, file storage, API management and key-value stores
• Hands-on integration experience across varied API landscapes
• Strong DevOps mindset - automation, version control, Git-based operations
• Proficiency with Terraform (CloudFormation also valuable)
• Working knowledge of scalable, cloud-native design patterns
• Quality-first engineering discipline and test-driven approach
• Excellent communication and documentation skills
• Understanding of OAuth2/OIDC authentication patterns
• Consideration for observability, monitoring and security in every design
• Degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent relevant experience
• Open-source contributions are a plus

Nice to have:

• Experience working in monorepos
• Hands-on Diagrams-as-Code tooling
• Knowledge of cost optimisation and cloud governance patterns
