Operations Account Director, Global Solutions

Role Summary:

The Operations Account Director plays a critical role within the Booking.com Global Account Team, acting as the central point of contact and operational backbone for all EU/AU market campaigns. This role demands a highly organised, process-driven individual with exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills. The Operations Account Director will be ultimately responsible for ensuring seamless end-to-end campaign execution, efficient resource allocation, and continuous process optimisation across all assigned markets. This role also involves managing an Account Manager, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.

Key Responsibilities

Campaign Operations Management:

  • Oversee the end-to-end operational execution of all EU/AU market campaigns for Booking.com, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, tracking progress and proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all operational inquiries related to EU/AU campaigns.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (creative, media, analytics, etc.) to ensure seamless campaign delivery.
  • Manage and optimize campaign workflows and processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure all campaigns are compliant with relevant regulations and Booking.com's internal policies.

 

Budget Management & Financial Oversight:

  • Work directly with the regional planning team on the mid and back office operations of the campaigns, including budget management.
  • Monitor campaign budgets closely, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of expenses.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate favorable terms.
  • Ensure accurate and timely invoicing and reconciliation.

 

Data & Analytics:

  • Champion a data-driven culture within the Global Solutions team, promoting the use of analytics to inform decision-making.
  • Oversee the implementation and management of Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM) projects.
  • Collaborate with the analytics team to develop and implement campaign performance dashboards and reports.
  • Analyze campaign data to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for optimization.

 

Technology & Innovation:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive technology roadmap aligned with the Global Solutions team's strategic objectives and the broader WPP technology vision.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new and emerging technologies to enhance the team's capabilities and drive innovation.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in marketing technology, data analytics, and campaign management.
  • Lead the implementation and adoption of new technologies within the team.

 

Team Leadership & Management:

  • Manage and mentor an Account Manager, providing guidance, support, and development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
  • Delegate tasks effectively and empower team members to take ownership.

 

Stakeholder Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders at Booking.com and within the Mindshare and wider WPP Media network.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing regular updates on campaign progress and performance.
  • Proactively identify and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Represent the Global Solutions team in meetings and presentations.

Your knowledge and abilities

Equal parts project manager, process designer, change manager, and strategic thinker.

  • Proven ability to translate strategic vision and priorities into operational reality.
  • Strong track record of driving results and achieving expected outcomes.
  • Exceptional planning skills with the ability to plot the course from start to finish, identify and mitigate risks, and seamlessly shift between strategic and tactical thinking.
  • Adept collaborator comfortable fostering relationships and working across all levels, both internally and with clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and breaking down complex problems into simple solutions.
  • Challenger of the status quo and a proactive change agent.
  • Proficient at designing and implementing efficient and effective ways of working, leveraging technology and automation where possible to work smarter, not harder.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to tailor messages based on the audience.

Desirable Criteria

  • Consultative approach to client engagement, media planning & measurement for international (global) clients.
