Role Summary and Impact

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Planning Account Manager on a brand that is truly making an impact on the world we live in and the fight against Cancer. This leading charity, The Cancer Research UK, is highly acclaimed in the industry and the #1 in trust and perception amongst charities in the UK. Something they are super proud of as a client and their passion for the business.  

We are seen as core partners and get involved in their marketing and fundraising awaydays where we get to hear from the scientists at the forefront of critical work.  

The £25M media spend is split relatively evenly between Brand and Performance with both important to come together to push donations to fund the critical scientific break throughs. This is also reflected in new communications strategies and creative being pushed from the end of the year as they look to the future. 

The client is split into marketing planning and marketing delivery serving general giving, events, stores and trading and whilst they are looking for strong ROI and low CPA there is a great appetite for thinking new and different to recruit that extra £1 of revenue 

Reporting to the Senior Associate Director, no two days will be the same and this client will give you a breadth of experience whilst being supported by a brilliantly strong team, who always strive to deliver best in class and forward-thinking media planning. Experience across brand and performance planning is essential and internally the person will need to form a close collaboration with the Digital and Strategy teams to provide a whole-brained perspective to the account, strategies and work. 

Your responsibilities will be wide-ranging including account-management, mining through research to draw on actionable insights, brand and outcome-based planning and working with specialists to ensure implementation excellence.  Other responsibilities include:

  • Work with key media partners for implementation planning and negotiations 
  • Be the trusted advisor/ to-go person within the team and with clients for all things related to digital/ media 
  • Presentation of strategy and implementation ideas to clients, across different digital platforms 
  • Responsible for overall campaign strategy, planning, implementation, and post-campaign reviews for your set of brands. 
  • Develop and follow best practices and procedures/process for media planning & operations 
  • Set viable objectives and KPIs, and recommend/develop measurement methodology against all briefs 
  • Ensure projects/campaigns are tracked and measured based on agreed KPIs and media efficiencies 
  • Provide guidance to the team on planning, operations, and optimization of digital campaigns. 
  • To be a team player and work well with all members of the team to ensure all tasks are fulfilled. Guide and advise the wider team on best practices, innovation, and work processes. 
  • Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure the campaign's smooth implementation 
  • To update the team and clients on new trends and changes in the media

  • Shows depth of understanding of the industry, business, brands, and consumers in client conversations. 
  • A passion for data, insights, and ideation.
  • Experience in integrated planning will be an advantage.
