About WPP Media Clients team:

WPP Media Clients team is a business unit within WPP Media Malaysia that services our local Growth led clients which are performance oriented, need agile team and require fast turnaround operations. The team consists of media specialists that perform a hybrid role cutting across the entire campaign lifecycle, namely end-to-end client engagement, strategic planning and campaign management.

About the Role:

We are looking for a highly motivated Manager/Senior Manager to join the WPP Media Clients Team based out of Malaysia. As a manager in this team, you should have at least 2-3 years of prior work experience in the media industry OR As a Senior manager in this team, you must have 5-7 years of relevant experience in a similar role in the media industry. Prior experience managing small teams or being responsible for the growth and development of your team members (even if not managing directly) will be preferred.

As the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, you will manage their advertising needs end to end across all channels. Your primary responsibilities will include developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, understanding their business goals, and translating these into effective advertising strategies. You will oversee the entire campaign lifecycle, starting with strategic planning to campaign setup, execution, and ongoing optimization for our complex digitally savvy clients requiring more stakeholder management. Your role is crucial in ensuring that campaigns are delivered on time, within budget, and meet or exceed client expectations. You will be expected to drive successful outcomes and deliver exceptional value to our clients through meticulous planning and continuous performance analysis.

As a Manager/Senior Manager in your team, playing the role of a mentor to the junior colleagues in your team will be key to the success of the team. You will champion trainings and ongoing skill development within your team. You will be required to support the efforts of the Clients team leadership in building a pool of employees who have end-to-end client engagement, strategic planning and campaign management skills to meet the clients’ current and future needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Client Relationship & Servicing:
  • Client Champion: Proactively communicate with clients, providing regular updates on campaign performance, industry trends, and new opportunities. Manage client expectations effectively and ensure their satisfaction with our services.
  • Trusted Advisor: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with clients based on trust, transparency, and proactive communication. Become a trusted advisor, providing strategic guidance and recommendations to help clients achieve their business goals.
  • Strategic Insight: Augment your understanding of client businesses, target audiences, competitive landscapes, and industry trends.
  1. Account Management:
  • Goal-Oriented Planning: Collaborate with clients to define clear and measurable campaign objectives, aligning advertising strategies with overall business goals. Influencing client decision making to deliver optimum results for the set KPIs.
  • Cross-Channel Expertise: Develop comprehensive advertising strategies and media plans across all relevant channels.
  • Campaign Management: Use GroupM workflow management tool to capture and guide campaign requirements and allocate resources effectively across different channels for effective campaign delivery. Appropriately manage escalations within the team.
  1. Implementation & Operations:
  • Seamless Execution: Independently implement campaigns across all channels, ensuring timely launch and accurate setup. Guide members in your team, so that you can reach the ‘gold standard’ of campaign management as a team.
  • Budget Control: Manage campaign budgets and track spending meticulously to ensure optimal ROI.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with internal teams (e.g., creative, analytics) to ensure seamless campaign execution and alignment with client expectations.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and Optimize campaign performance closely, using analytics tools to track key metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Billing and Reconciliation: Ensure client spends are reconciled post campaign and supporting documents are maintained. Liaising with Finance to ensure client billing and vendor invoicing are up to date. Monitor relevant reports periodically.
  1. Optimization & Reporting:
  • Data-Driven Optimization: Regularly analyse data to uncover insights, adjust strategies, and implement changes that enhance campaign performance. Coach members of the team on how technology can be leveraged to optimize campaigns.
  • A/B Testing: Conduct A/B testing to identify the most effective campaign elements and optimize for conversions, engagement, and other key performance indicators.
  • Insightful Reporting: Generate regular reports from WPP Media proprietary dashboard that clearly communicate campaign performance, insights, and recommendations to clients in a digestible and actionable format.
  • Strategic Analysis: Analyse campaign data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement, providing strategic recommendations to clients for future campaigns.

Skill Sets:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Individuals with a ‘can-do’ attitude will thrive.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with all major advertising channels (may include biddable/digital channels like search, social, and programmatic as well as non-biddable/non-digital channels like TV, Print, Radio, OOH/DOOH, Cinema, Digital IOs etc).
  • Proficiency in using analytics tools, e.g., Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, Evogenious (TV), Clear Decisions, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerBI to track campaign performance, generate insights, and inform optimization strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to campaign planning, management and optimization.
  • Inclination towards mentoring and coaching junior team members
  • Knowing how to teach new concepts effectively, whether through direct instruction, examples, or hands-on experience.
