Investment Operations Manager, WPP Media Australia

The Investment Operations Manager is a pivotal role within WPP Media's Investment team in Australia, responsible for delivering operational excellence across all media channels and investment activity. Reporting into the Head of Inventory Management and the Head of Investment Operations and Insights, this person sits at the heart of a collaborative team and serves as a critical connection point between agency partners, finance, and media and research vendors to keep essential processes running accurately and on time. WPP Media plays an integral role in maximising performance for its agency brands, and this position directly supports that mission by owning the day-to-day operational engine behind inventory management, reconciliation and data partnerships. Success in this role means agencies are well-briefed and fully supported, reconciliations are accurate and compliant, and vendor relationships are efficiently managed and continuously optimised.

  • Acts as a key liaison between WPP Media agency brands and the Finance team, ensuring GMi processes are accurately implemented and all stakeholders are aligned and informed
  • Manages a split remit across GMi operations (approximately 70% of time) and Data and Intelligence management (approximately 30%), with workloads that shift naturally throughout the year
  • Owns the end-to-end GMi reconciliation process, from running raw data reports to briefing required adjustments and reporting pre- and post-adjustment results to key stakeholders
  • Oversees a broad portfolio of data, research and software partnerships including platforms such as Nielsen, Roy Morgan, OzTAM, GfK, GWI, Statista and SMI, managing renewals, invoices, user access and vendor coordination
  • Supports agency onboarding and provides ongoing training on GMi processes, ensuring all client agency teams are briefed, accurate and operating in line with media publisher allocations
  • Contributes to a wider team committed to operational transparency and accountability, directly supporting WPP Media ANZ's standing as the number one ranked media investment group in Australia

What You'll Bring

  • A solid grounding in the media buying process across multiple channels, with the ability to translate that knowledge into practical support and guidance for agency teams
  • Hands-on experience with SMD, applied to manage investment data with accuracy and efficiency
  • Strong numerical skills and a sharp eye for detail, with a track record of delivering reliable reconciliations, reports and financial records
  • A demonstrated ability to self-manage competing priorities and work independently, consistently meeting deadlines across multiple workstreams
  • Clear and effective communication skills, with experience working across internal teams and external partners to resolve issues, share updates and keep processes on track
  • Experience managing vendor or supplier relationships, including contract terms, renewals, invoice approvals and optimising usage across a portfolio of tools and platforms
  • A proactive approach to identifying operational gaps and putting practical solutions in place before issues escalate
  • Comfort working with data and reporting platforms, paired with a genuine curiosity about how new tools and technologies can drive operational efficiency

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Familiarity with research and audience data tools such as Nielsen, Roy Morgan, OzTAM, GfK, GWI or Statista
  • Experience with AI tools or automation, with an interest in developing agent-based solutions to streamline operational processes
  • Exposure to APAC or multi-market media environments and cross-regional collaboration
  • A background in a media investment, trading or operations function within a media agency or media owner setting
