In 2022, Wurl was acquired by AppLovin (Nasdaq: APP), a leading marketing platform, giving our employees the best of both worlds: the dynamic environment of a 150+ person startup as well as the stability of a high-growth public tech company. We invest in providing a culture that fosters passion, drives excellence, and encourages collaboration to drive innovation. Wurl is a fully-remote company that has been globally recognized for our people and technology, having been named a Great Place to Work by Fortune in 2022, 2023, and 2024; an Ad Tech Company of the Year finalist by the UK Business Tech Awards in 2023; a BIG Innovation Awards winner in 2024 and 2025; and the “Innovation in Advertising” winner by the StreamTV Awards in 2024.

Wurl is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to help design and operate the systems that power our ad-serving and streaming platforms. You’ll build and evolve the infrastructure foundation that enables our teams to deploy, scale, and observe high-throughput, low-latency workloads serving hundreds of thousands of requests per second.

You’ll own the platform layer, ensuring it’s reliable, cost-efficient, and measurable, while playing a key role in enabling our engineers to deliver world-class video and advertising experiences.

What You’ll Do:

Platform Infrastructure & Automation

  • Design and maintain composable IaC (CDK or Terraform) patterns for Cloud Infrastructure (EKS).
  • Implement composable, idempotent, multi-environment GitOps workflows.
  • Optimize scalability and cost-per-performance using metrics-driven automation and autoscaling technologies such as Karpenter.

Observability & Reliability

  • Develop and maintain observability across the platform using Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing.
  • Collaborate with application teams to define SLIs/SLOs and capacity models for mission-critical services.
  • Lead or participate in production incident response, postmortems, and reliability reviews.

Delivery & Culture

  • Create and operate resilient CI/CD pipelines for safe, rapid deployments and rollbacks.
  • Champion automation, low-toil operations, and a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

Core Experience

  • Established experience operating high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems in cloud production environments, ideally in Platform, SRE, or DevOps roles.
  • Strong coding skills for automation and systems development (Go, Python, or TypeScript).
  • Proven experience operating Kubernetes at scale (EKS preferred) and applying IaC patterns (CDK, Terraform).
  • Working knowledge of GitOps and reconciliation loops in Kubernetes controllers.
  • Solid experience with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions, AWS CodePipeline)

Operational Excellence

  • Skilled in designing monitoring and alerting pipelines (PromQL, metrics correlation, alert noise reduction).
  • Experience with large-scale streaming or ad-serving workloads, including HTTP-based delivery (oRTB, VAST), event streaming (Kafka), and AWS network architecture (VPC, load balancers, peering)
  • Understanding of cloud security best practices (IAM, encryption, network segmentation, zero trust).
  • Ability to measure, analyze, and tune performance to achieve optimal cost and latency targets.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with advanced GitOps patterns using Argo CD
  • Exposure to extended observability tools such as Loki or Tempo
  • Experience designing or operating high-throughput data pipelines to ensure reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient data flow.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
