About the Role

As a Construction Supervisor at xAI, you will play a pivotal role in bringing our state-of-the-art data center in Memphis to life. This is an opportunity to lead the charge on a mission-critical project, overseeing every phase of construction to ensure it meets xAI’s exacting standards for quality, efficiency, and innovation. You’ll manage a dynamic team of contractors and on-site personnel, tackle complex challenges, and drive the project to completion on time and within budget. Your leadership will directly contribute to building the infrastructure that powers xAI’s groundbreaking AI solutions, enabling us to accelerate human scientific discovery at an unprecedented scale.

In this hands-on role, you’ll be at the heart of the action, coordinating with engineers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align on project goals while maintaining strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards. From tracking daily progress to resolving unforeseen issues, your ability to stay organized, communicative, and adaptable will be key to delivering a world-class facility. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning, design, and execution of construction projects for the new data center in Memphis.
  • Manage contractors, subcontractors, and all on-site construction personnel to ensure project goals are met.
  • Track daily construction progress, including headcount, project milestones, and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Develop and maintain construction schedules, ensuring projects remain on time and within scope.
  • Monitor project budgets and manage costs, adjusting as necessary to prevent overruns.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, engineers, and external vendors to ensure alignment with project specifications and goals.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and safety checks to ensure compliance with all regulations.
  • Prepare and present progress reports, construction metrics, and updates to senior management.
  • Resolve any issues that may arise during the construction process, including conflicts with contractors or delays.
  • Ensure the quality and efficiency of construction meet xAI’s high standards for data center infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in construction management, with a focus on data centers or large-scale industrial/commercial projects.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing construction projects from start to finish, on time and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage contractors, subcontractors, and construction teams.
  • Strong understanding of project scheduling, cost management, and resource allocation.
  • Proficient in construction management software and tools (e.g., Procore, AutoCAD, MS Project).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external contractors, vendors, and stakeholders.
  • Experience with construction metrics, including headcount management, safety checks, and daily progress tracking.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in data center construction or highly technical facilities.
  • Familiarity with local Memphis building codes and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex construction challenges.

Additional Requirements

  • Comfortable working in an environment requiring exposure to noise
  • Available to work evenings and weekends, as the schedule varies depending on site operational needs; flexibility is required
  • Ability to lift 25+ lbs
