Role Summary

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of xAI’s Bay Area office buildings. This role involves managing facility services, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Facilities Site Manager will collaborate with teams such as the Security Lead, Office Manager, Chef, Barista Supervisor, Corporate Project Architect, and Construction Project Manager to maintain a high-quality workplace that enhances employee productivity and well-being. This position requires strong organizational skills, facilities expertise, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee daily facility operations, including maintenance, cleaning, security, and food services, to ensure a safe and functional workplace
  • Manage vendor contracts for services such as janitorial, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and landscaping, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Coordinate with the Chef and Barista Supervisor to support kitchen and café operations, ensuring seamless integration with facility needs
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, OSHA regulations, fire safety standards, and environmental requirements
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) to minimize disruptions
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Project Architect and Construction Project Manager during building transitions or renovations to ensure operational readiness
  • Monitor and manage facility budgets, tracking expenses and optimizing resource allocation
  • Respond to facility-related issues, such as repairs or employee requests, in a timely and professional manner
  • Maintain accurate records for maintenance, inspections, and vendor agreements using facility management software or tools (e.g., Microsoft Excel, CMMS)
  • Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment by addressing employee feedback and improving facility services to boost morale and productivity

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 3+ years of experience in facilities management, preferably for corporate or commercial buildings
  • Knowledge of building systems (e.g., HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and local regulatory requirements
  • Proficiency with facility management tools or software (e.g., CMMS, Microsoft Office)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities management, including 1+ year in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Experience managing facilities in a high-tech or corporate office environment
  • Certification in facilities management (e.g., CFM, FMP) or willingness to obtain
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations, including OSHA and California-specific standards
  • Experience managing food service operations or coordinating with culinary teams
  • Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills for collaborating in a flat organizational structure
  • Familiarity with sustainable building practices (e.g., LEED, WELL Building Standard)
  • Basic financial acumen for budgeting and cost control

Ability to interpret technical drawings or facility plans

Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $160,000 - $225,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at xAI.
