Head of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics
About the Job
As the Head of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, you will have prior experience building and leading computational biology and/or bioinformatics teams in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting, have experience with large scale data generation in the life sciences space and hold Experience with large scale data generation in the life sciences space.
About You
You are a leader that can Build a team that will collaborate closely with scientists to develop tools for extracting biological insights from experimental data. You have experience in regards to hiring, mentoring, and managing scientists, engineers, and technical leads. You have vast experience in overseeing the development, validation, and maintenance of scalable, reproducible computational pipelines for data from start to end. You are an individual that has experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams, including wet-lab scientists and clinicians, to integrate computational methods into broader research efforts and respond to emerging needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience building and leading computational biology and/or bioinformatics teams in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting
- Experience developing and implementing robust computational pipelines to enable the generation of biological insights
- Experience with large scale data generation in the life sciences space
- Demonstrated experience integrating diverse data sets and driving rigorous biological analyses, including with next-generation sequencing and other high-throughput assays (e.g., proteomics)
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary setting
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in computational biology or bioinformatics
- Holds a PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience translating long-term strategy into near-term tactical priorities for the computational biology and bioinformatics organization. Manages resources effectively, including budget, personnel, and technology, to align with strategic goals
- Drive innovation in computational biology methods and stay abreast of the latest developments in the field
Compensation
The specific compensation package for each role depends on factors including experience, qualifications and level. We anticipate the range for this role to be $250,000 to $350,000 per year.
