About the Job

We are seeking a highly motivated and exceptional Research Associate or Senior Research Associate to join our dynamic team at Xaira Therapeutics and contribute to our early-stage research programs focused on cardiometabolic diseases. This role will be tasked with performing in vivo, cell culture and molecular biology experiments in collaboration with cross-functional teams to drive research programs.

What You’ll Do And Learn

  • Perform in vivo studies and ex vivo analysis to facilitate research programs in cardiometabolic diseases 
  • Plan and conduct molecular biology experiments such as, but not limited to, gene expression analysis, immunostaining, ELISA and western blotting 
  • Culture and maintain primary and immortalized cell lines, and execute cell-based assays for target validation and mechanistic studies 
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data. Maintain detailed and accurate records of experiments and results. 
  • Collaborate and communicate across diverse technology development and drug discovery research teams to successfully achieve scientific goals.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, patents, and presentations to disseminate research findings both internally and externally.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • M.S. degree in Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of work experiences preferably in industry setting; or B.S. degree with a minimum of 4 years of experiences working in the field of cardiometabolic diseases. 
  • Experience with rodent handling and basic in vivo techniques including dosing (IP, SC, IV, and PO), in life and terminal blood collection, tissue collection and processing during necropsy
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture, as well as biochemical, cellular, and molecular biology techniques (e.g., western blots, qPCR, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, etc) 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly present results of their work to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with neuronal, adipocyte and/or skeletal muscle cell culture highly desirable
  • Experience with various phenotypic and functional cell-based assays, such as flow cytometry, HTRF, BRET, and other high throughput assays 
  • Experience with cell engineering (CRISPR knockout, siRNA/shRNA knockdown, stable cell line generation) techniques to support mechanism of action studies for drug candidates.

Compensation

A Summary of Benefits is available for all applicants.  The base pay range for this position is expected to be $60,000 - $111,000 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the market, job-related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
