As Senior Director, Product Management you will play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction of the company, overseeing product strategy, and ensuring operational efficiency across teams.

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Product Management to oversee both the internal and external operations of our AI-driven drug design platform. This individual will be responsible for product execution, and team coordination internally, driving key strategic initiatives and managing key relationships with external partners and engaging with the broader AI and biotech community. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both tech and biotech/pharma, with proven experience in building and scaling innovative products in high-growth environments.

Key Responsibilities:

Internal-Facing Responsibilities:

  • Product Strategy & Execution: Lead the development and execution of the product roadmap, ensuring alignment with company vision and goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and biologists, to deliver cutting-edge AI-driven solutions.
  • Team Coordination & Leadership: Work closely with engineering, product, and research teams to ensure seamless communication, collaboration, and alignment across the company. Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Operational Efficiency: Oversee the day-to-day operations of product management, ensuring smooth processes, timely delivery of milestones, and that the team operates with maximum efficiency.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a liaison between various teams (Product, Engineering, Research, Operations) to ensure cohesion and alignment across strategic initiatives.
  • KPIs and Performance Metrics: Define and track KPIs for product success and team performance. Utilize data-driven insights to guide decision-making, product prioritization, and resource allocation.

External-Facing Responsibilities:

  • Partnership Development: Cultivate and manage relationships with external technology partners, including software and hardware technology providers, academic institutions, and pharmaceutical companies. Negotiate partnerships, collaborations, and licensing opportunities that will drive innovation and enhance the company's capabilities.
  • Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and forums, particularly within the AI, biotech, and pharma spaces. Engage with thought leaders and stay informed about the latest advancements in AI drug discovery.
  • Community Engagement: Actively engage with the broader AI and biotech communities to establish Xaira Therapeutics as a thought leader in the space. Build and nurture relationships with academic researchers, AI specialists, and key stakeholders in the drug discovery field.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in a senior product management role, ideally in both tech and pharma/biotech companies. Experience working at the intersection of AI/ML and drug discovery is highly preferred.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies, particularly in the context of drug discovery or related fields. Experience with drug development processes.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven track record in leading cross-functional teams in high-growth, fast-paced environments. Ability to influence and inspire teams across engineering, research, and operations.
  • Strategic Thinking: Exceptional ability to develop and execute strategic product plans that align with company objectives and drive business growth.
  • Partnership & Relationship Building: Demonstrated success in developing and managing strategic partnerships with external technology and research partners.
  • Communication: Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Problem Solving & Decision Making: Excellent analytical skills with a solutions-oriented mindset. Ability to make data-driven decisions and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Location: Must be based in or willing to relocate to the SF Bay Area or Seattle.

Compensation

We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package, seeking to provide an open, flexible, and friendly work environment to empower employees and provide them with a platform to develop their long-term careers. A Summary of Benefits is available for all applicants. We offer a competitive package that includes base salary, bonus, and equity.  The base pay range for this position is expected to be $195,000 - $340,000 annually; however, the base pay offered may vary depending on the market, job-related knowledge, skills and capabilities, and experience.
