Backend Engineer—LLM/ API Integrations

About the Role 

We’re looking for a backend engineer with strong fundamentals and hands-on experience integrating LLMs with APIs, tools, and workflow pipelines. While MCP-specific experience is not required, the engineer must be capable of ramping quickly into agent-based development and supporting production-grade AI solutions. 

This role supports a fast-paced AI program, building real-world automations and agent-driven features. The ideal candidate is practical, proactive, and able to learn emerging frameworks rapidly. 

What You'll Do

• Build and integrate LLM-driven features with backend services and APIs.  
• Develop agent-based workflows (LLM + tools + API calls) 
• Implement secure, scalable backend components (Python preferred).  
• Support experimentation, prototyping, and production rollout of AI-driven automations.  
• Integrate LLMs with third-party APIs, internal tools, and enterprise workflows.  
• Develop robust interfaces, input/output handling, guards, and validation layers.  
• Ensure observability, performance, and error-handing across AI-agent pipelines.  
• Work closely with product, engineering, and platform teams to deliver iterative value.  
• Communicate constraints, risks, and proposals clearly and pragmatically.  
• Ramp up quickly into MCP and agent-oriented frameworks.  
• Follow engineering best practices: testing, documentation, production readiness. 
• Be able to contribute to design/architecture discussions
• Support technical evaluations of other consultants when required, contributing to the assessment of skills and alignment with project needs

What You Bring 

• 4–7 years in backend engineering (Python).  
• Hands-on experience integrating LLMs with APIs or tools.  
• Experience building workflows or automation pipelines 
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, event flows, data modeling, and backend architecture. 
• Proven ability to deliver production-grade services. 

Nice-to-Have / Fast Ramp Skills 

• Exposure to MCP or similar tool/agent standards.  
• Experience in retail, ecommerce, or personalization-focused systems.
