Senior MDM Engineering Lead

About the Role 

We are looking for a hands-on Senior MDM Engineering Lead to drive the delivery of our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platforms, spanning Product Information Management (PIM), Master Data Management (MDM), and data quality. In this role, you will centralize and curate customer, location, and product catalogs — ensuring they are accurate, complete, secure, and immediately useful across 30+ applications and business channels.

You will be involved in a focused global engineering team of 4–5 engineers (software, data, and SRE), partnering closely with Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders to define the vision for enterprise data capabilities and establish the KPIs and operating model that turn data into a durable competitive advantage. 

 What You’ll Do 

Leadership & Strategy 

• Lead system design and reference architecture for scalable, distributed data platforms using microservices and event-driven patterns.
• Establish data governance practices and operating mechanisms including standards, stewardship, SLAs, playbooks, and runbooks.
• Drive cross-functional alignment across Engineering, Product, Security, Privacy/Legal, and business domains.
• Drive adoption of an AI-first approach to engineering within the master data domain - including LLM-assisted data quality, automated metadata enrichment, and intelligent data lineage — to accelerate delivery and reduce manual toil. 

Enterprise Data Architecture & Delivery 

• Lead solution architecture, data modeling, and integration patterns for PIM/MDM platforms (e.g., Syndigo, Informatica MDM) and digital assets.
• Centralize product information and digital assets; integrate upstream/downstream sources such as PLM, DAM, ERP, commerce, and analytics systems.
• Design and implement a data quality framework covering profiling, rules, monitoring, and reconciliation to measurably improve completeness, consistency, and timeliness.
• Design and deliver cloud-native, cloud-agnostic master data services that power 30+ applications and business functions. 

Engineering Excellence 

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing global engineering team 4-5 engineers; set coding standards and review practices.
• Partner with Product to define KPIs/OKRs, manage delivery plans, and communicate progress to leadership.
• Conduct technical evaluations of consultants and external partners when needed, assessing skills and fit for project requirements. 

 

Analytics Enablement 

• Ensure data products are analytics-ready and traceable; enable BI adoption across tools such as Power BI, Looker, or Tableau.
• Define data contracts and SLAs; improve trust in metrics and self-service discovery. 

 

What You Bring 

Technical Expertise 

• Hands-on experience with PIM/MDM platforms such as Syndigo or Informatica MDM, and related data domains (product, item, supplier, location, customer). 
• Proven expertise in system design and distributed architecture: microservices, event-driven patterns, and horizontal scaling. 
• Strong experience with event streaming and real-time integration (e.g., Kafka, CDC tools). 
• Solid database background across relational (Postgres/MySQL) and NoSQL stores (MongoDB, Redis); working knowledge of graph databases (e.g., Neo4j) and when to apply them. 
• Proficiency in Python and object-oriented design; able to actively contribute to codebases and set engineering standards. 
• Demonstrated ability to design and implement data quality frameworks: profiling, rules engines, monitoring, and reconciliation pipelines. 
• Experience with data governance, metadata management, and data catalog tooling. 
• Familiarity with cloud-agnostic service design across at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure). 

Leadership & Communication 

• 10+ years in software/data engineering, with 5+ years leading teams delivering enterprise data platforms or services.
• Experience leading global multidisciplinary engineering teams (software, data, SRE) with cross-functional collaboration with Architecture and Product.
• Demonstrated ability to define, implement, and report on KPIs/OKRs that guide decisions and communicate progress to senior stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills to align diverse, global teams on shared outcomes. 

Nice to have: 

• Delivered integrations with PLM, DAM, ERP, or commerce platforms (e.g., FlexPLM, Adobe AEM Assets, SAP).
• Working knowledge of Looker and Tableau for operational and executive reporting.
• Experience with privacy and security compliance (e.g., GDPR/CCPA), access controls, and data masking/tokenization.
• Exposure to supply chain, digital commerce, or omnichannel product content workflows.
• Familiarity with AI/ML techniques applied to data quality, entity resolution, or automated metadata tagging.
