Overview
An IT Administrator is responsible for maintaining and improving the technology infrastructure of the organization. They manage hardware, software, networks, and ensure system security and efficiency. This role involves troubleshooting issues, implementing new technologies, and providing technical support to employees.
What you’ll do:
- System Administration:
- Manage and maintain computer systems, servers, and networks.
- Install, configure, and update software and hardware.
- Ensure systems are operating efficiently and securely.
- Network Management:
- Monitor and maintain local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and internet connections.
- Implement network security measures, including firewalls and antivirus systems.
- Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues.
- User Support:
- Provide technical support to employees, resolving hardware and software issues.
- Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring data security.
- Conduct training sessions for staff on technology usage.
- Data Backup and Recovery:
- Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures.
- Ensure data is secure and recoverable in case of hardware failure or cyberattacks.
- IT Security:
- Monitor and respond to security breaches.
- Perform regular system audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Enforce compliance with organizational security policies.
- Vendor and Asset Management:
- Work with vendors to purchase, repair, and maintain hardware and software.
- Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and software licenses.
- Project Management:
- Participate in planning and implementing IT projects.
- Research and recommend new technologies to improve operational efficiency.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Proven experience as an IT Administrator or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with system administration tools (e.g., Active Directory, Office 365, etc.).
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA), or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
- Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Knowledge of database management and ERP systems.
