India (Remote)

XO Health is the first health plan designed by and for self-insured employers that delivers a more unified health experience for everyone – from those who receive care, to those who deliver it, to those who pay for it.

Full Stack Engineer - (Front-End) India (Remote)

About the Role:

XO Health is seeking a front-end–leaning Full Stack Engineer to build the applications that shape a Provider’s experience. You will own the user experience end to end, from component architecture and state management through performance, accessibility, and testing, while contributing to the GraphQL APIs and cloud services behind it. Our back end is GraphQL APIs on a serverless cloud architecture. The ideal candidate is a UI craftsperson who is equally comfortable designing APIs, and who builds interfaces that are fast, accessible, secure, and maintainable at scale.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead the architecture and development of complex, data-rich provider-facing web applications, including component design, routing, code splitting, and lazy loading
  • Design and implement scalable client-side state management for workflows such as claims, eligibility, authorizations, and provider onboarding
  • Build complex, validated forms and multi-step workflows that make dense healthcare data easy to understand and act on
  • Build efficient GraphQL clients, including query design, normalized caching, pagination, and optimistic updates
  • Establish and maintain front-end testing standards across unit, component, and end-to-end tests
  • Apply front-end security best practices for applications handling PHI, including OAuth 2.0/OIDC authentication flows, secure session handling, XSS prevention, and Content Security Policy
  • Champion responsive, cross-browser UI development with modern CSS and a consistent component library
  • Contribute to front-end architecture at scale (such as micro-frontends) and front-end CI/CD, including automated builds, linting, and deployment
  • Design, develop, and maintain back-end services and GraphQL APIs that power the front end
  • Implement serverless architectures and microservices that are independently scalable, resilient, and easy to deploy
  • Integrate and customize rules engines for automated decision-making and efficiency
  • Ensure application security and compliance with HIPAA and other regulations, with a focus on performance and scalability
  • Engage with Product, UX, and cross-functional teams to define and deliver features that meet the complex demands of the healthcare sector
  • Mentor engineers on front-end architecture, code quality, accessibility, and testing through code reviews, pairing, and technical guidance

What we’re looking for :

We’re looking for a front-end–focused engineer to help us build a fast, polished, and intuitive experience for the providers who rely on XO Health every day. You’ll take ownership of key areas of our provider application, such as claims status, eligibility and benefits lookups, authorizations, and provider onboarding, and you’ll care about every detail of how a provider gets their work done.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in at least one modern component-based front-end framework, a sharp eye for UI quality, and a track record of shipping fast, accessible, production-grade web applications. You partner closely with design to get interactions and small details right, and you make sound, pragmatic decisions about front-end architecture: component patterns, state management, data fetching with GraphQL, performance, and testing. You’re also happy to work across the stack. Our front end is backed by GraphQL APIs running on serverless cloud infrastructure, and we value engineers who can follow a problem from the browser to the database and fix it there.

Beyond technical depth, we want someone who holds a high bar for quality but knows when to move quickly, and who weighs those tradeoffs thoughtfully. You’re high-agency and comfortable with ambiguity. On our team, engineers help shape requirements, query data to see how features are actually used, and take ownership of quality rather than handing it off. You’ll work closely with product, design, operations, and claims stakeholders, and you’ll help raise the bar for other engineers through mentorship and code review.

A healthcare background isn’t required, though it’s a real plus. What matters is that you’re energized by the complexity of the American healthcare system, from claims and eligibility to payer rules and HIPAA, and by the chance to make it simpler for providers.

Qualifications :

  • 5+ years building production software, with a strong focus on complex front-end web applications
  • Deep expertise in a statically typed language and at least one modern component-based front-end framework, including reactive programming, complex forms, and client-side state management
  • A strong eye for UI quality: you spot misaligned spacing and inconsistent interactions, and you can’t leave them alone
  • Hands-on experience with front-end performance optimization, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA), and cross-browser compatibility
  • Experience with GraphQL on the client side, plus a solid understanding of API design and back-end data models
  • Working proficiency in at least one back-end language and a major cloud platform, including serverless services
  • Experience with front-end testing at the unit, component, and end-to-end levels
  • Comfort writing SQL and working with relational or NoSQL data
  • Fluency with AI-assisted development tools
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Nice to have :

  • Experience with more than one front-end framework
  • Experience building or maintaining a design system or component library
  • Experience with micro-frontend architectures or monorepos
  • Experience building search experiences, including indexing, querying, and performance tuning
  • Experience in healthcare, especially claims processing or provider portals, and an understanding of HIPAA
  • Experience with iOS, Android, or cross-platform mobile development
  • Experience integrating contact center platforms into web applications through their APIs and SDKs
  • Experience building agentic AI chatbots or assistants, including LLM integration, tool calling, and conversational chat interfaces

Full compensation packages are based on candidate experience and relevant certifications.
