Collections Manager

Xometry is seeking a skilled and experienced Collections & Credit Manager to join our Finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's accounts receivable processes, ensuring strong cash flow, and maintaining positive customer relationships. This role also involves developing and implementing credit policies, evaluating customer creditworthiness, and managing credit risk to support company growth.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the collections and credit teams to achieve department goals.
- Manage a portfolio of accounts receivable, focusing on reducing Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and maintaining a healthy aging report.
- Develop and implement credit policies and procedures that align with company objectives, risk tolerance, and growth goals.
- Oversee the management of customer credit applications, credit limit assignments, and periodic credit reviews.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis of customer creditworthiness using financial statements, credit reports, and industry data.
- Analyze accounts receivable data to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, Case Managers and Legal departments to resolve complex collection issues and disputes.
- Negotiate payment terms and credit limits with customers while maintaining positive relationships.
- Generate detailed AR reports, including aging reports, collection metrics, and cash forecasts.
- Manage collection agencies and legal partners for escalated collection cases.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
- Lead monthly closing activities related to accounts receivable, including reconciliations and reporting.
- Monitor industry trends and economic conditions that may impact customer creditworthiness.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on collection strategies and customer service best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in collections and/or credit management, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Proven track record of reducing DSO and improving collection metrics.
- Proven track record of managing credit risk while supporting sales growth.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, collections laws/regulations, and commercial credit laws.
- Experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Experience managing and developing team members.
- Knowledge of credit analysis and risk assessment.
- Experience with manufacturing or B2B companies is preferred.
- Certifications such as CCP (Certified Credit Professional), CCE, or CICP are a plus.
