Principal Product Manager, AI Manufacturing

The Principal Product Manager for Manufacturability Intelligence will spearhead the development of Xometry’s AI-powered manufacturability analysis capabilities. This role is central to our vision of automating and optimizing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) processes, enabling customers to receive real-time feedback on part designs and reducing production risks. You will drive the strategy, development, and execution of features that analyze 3D models, detect potential manufacturing issues, and provide actionable feedback to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Vision & Strategy
    • Define and communicate a compelling vision for the Manufacturability Intelligence platform, aligning with Xometry’s broader goals of scalability, automation, and enhanced customer experience.
    • Develop a strategic roadmap to advance our manufacturability analysis capabilities, incorporating AI-driven insights, rule-based engines, and 3D model analysis.
    • Identify key opportunities to enhance customer satisfaction and reduce operational bottlenecks through automated manufacturability checks and feedback mechanisms.
  • Product Development & Execution
    • Lead the development of a manufacturability service that provides accurate, real-time feedback on design feasibility, material selection, and process suitability.
    • Collaborate closely with data science and engineering teams to build machine learning models and rule-based systems for detecting and interpreting complex geometric features in 3D parts.
    • Oversee the integration of Visual Language Models (VLMs) and 3D Language Models (3DLMs) to enhance part understanding and manufacturability predictions.
    • Partner with UX/UI teams to create intuitive, user-friendly interfaces that display manufacturability feedback and recommendations to customers.
  • Customer & Market Insights
    • Engage with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to gather insights on pain points related to design manufacturability and feedback accuracy.
    • Perform market research and competitive analysis to identify gaps and opportunities in current DFM tools and capabilities.
    • Define and track key performance metrics to measure the impact of manufacturability improvements on customer satisfaction, lead times, and production success rates.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership
    • Lead cross-functional teams including data science, software engineering, operations, and UX to deliver innovative manufacturability solutions.
    • Advocate for and drive the adoption of new manufacturability features across internal teams and customers, emphasizing the benefits of improved design insights and reduced manufacturing errors.
    • Present updates, insights, and strategic recommendations to executive leadership, aligning project objectives with overall business goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of product management experience, with at least 5 years focused on AI/ML-powered products or manufacturability analysis tools in the manufacturing or engineering space.
    • Proven track record of leading the development and launch of successful B2C, B2B or enterprise SaaS products in the manufacturing, e-commerce, or marketplace sectors.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Deep understanding of machine learning, data analytics, and computer vision, particularly in the context of 3D modeling and part analysis.
    • Experience working closely with data scientists, ML engineers, and software development teams to develop scalable AI solutions.
    • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, 3D printing, injection molding) and DFM principles is a plus..
  • Soft Skills:
    • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to drive alignment across diverse teams and functions.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on deriving insights from complex data and customer feedback.
    • Highly organized, with excellent project management skills and a demonstrated ability to execute on ambitious product roadmaps.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field. An advanced degree (MBA, MS) is a plus.
  • ITAR:
    • Must be a US Citizen or GC holder
