As the Senior Director, Category Management at Xometry, you will own and drive the strategic vision for one of our key manufacturing verticals: CNC Machining, Additive Manufacturing, Sheet & Tube Fabrication, Plastic Part Production (Molding), or Metal Part Production. In this role, you would be the owner of a category and would be responsible for solving complex business problems across sales, operations, marketing, and pricing to achieve hyper growth in your respective category. This critical leadership role directly impacts Xometry’s marketplace growth as we revolutionize the $2 trillion custom manufacturing industry through our AI-powered platform.

You will have P&L responsibility for your category, implementing strategies that expand our marketplace menu, strengthen our supplier network, and drive deeper enterprise engagement—all key priorities in our mission to become the “Everything Store” for custom manufacturing. Working at the intersection of technology, manufacturing, and marketplace dynamics, you’ll help shape Xometry’s future while delivering exceptional value to both buyers and suppliers.

What You’ll Do

  • Drive Category Strategy: Define and execute comprehensive strategies to accelerate growth, capture market share and drive profitability within your manufacturing vertical
  • Build Strategic Partner Networks: Identify, recruit, and develop relationships with high-value manufacturing partners globally, focusing on capabilities that meet our customers’ evolving needs across capability, geography and price point
  • Lead AI Innovation: Collaborate with our technology teams to enhance our AI-powered matching algorithms, optimizing pricing, costing, and supplier selection to improve acceptance rates and outcomes
  • Optimize Performance Metrics: Drive continuous improvement in key category performance indicators including conversion rates, on-time delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Identify Growth Opportunities: Analyze market trends, competition, and customer needs to identify gaps in our current offering and develop strategies to capture the market expansion opportunities
  • Enhance Profitability: Provide input to the pricing team to implement creative pricing strategies and operational improvements to enhance gross margins while maintaining competitiveness
  • Manage Cross-Functional Initiatives: Collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, product, and engineering teams to implement category initiatives that drive marketplace growth

What You’ll Bring

  • Industry Experience: 8+ years of experience in marketplace operations driving revenue and profitability while capturing market share with 3+ years in leadership roles;  Experience in manufacturing is a plus 
  • P&L Management: Proven track record of driving business growth and P&L management
  • Manufacturing Expertise: Understanding of manufacturing processes, technologies, and industry dynamics specific to your category vertical is a plus
  • Data-Driven Decision Making: Experience leveraging data analytics and AI to drive strategic business decisions
  • Relationship Building: Exceptional ability to develop and maintain strategic partnerships with manufacturing suppliers
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated success working across organizations to implement complex initiatives
  • Strategic Vision: Ability to create and articulate compelling long-term strategies while delivering short-term results
  • Team Development: Track record of building high-performing teams in fast-paced environments
  • MBA or equivalent preferred
