Staff Software Engineer

North Bethesda, MD

Xometry (NASDAQ: XMTR) powers the industries of today and tomorrow by connecting the people with big ideas to the manufacturers who can bring them to life. Xometry’s digital marketplace gives manufacturers the critical resources they need to grow their business while also making it easy for buyers at Fortune 1000 companies to tap into global manufacturing capacity.

Xometry is looking for a Staff Software Engineer  to join our Core Platform team. This role is a strategic technical leadership position focused on the architectural evolution of our partnership with Siemens.

While our current plug-ins function as external add-ons, you will be responsible for re-architecting Xometry’s core application services to live natively within the Siemens ecosystem. You will shape the technical direction of multiple products, establishing the engineering patterns that allow Xometry’s AI—trained on millions of parts—to operate directly on Siemens’ native 3D geometry. Your goal is to move the architectural framework toward a "target state" where Siemens users experience zero-latency DFM feedback and one-click procurement without ever leaving Designcenter or Teamcenter.

This role requires a hybrid schedule (3 days a week) at our North Bethesda, MD or Waltham, MA office location.

How You'll Contribute

  • Software Development and Technical Craft: You will design high-performance solutions that extend beyond a single org, establishing the organizational standards for how Xometry-AI is embedded into external PLM environments. You will advance our architectural framework to ensure it is extensible, scalable, and adheres to strict enterprise SLIs/SLOs.
  • AI Fluency: You will lead the effort to integrate production ML pipelines into the application layer, ensuring the "science fiction speed" promised in our vision is realized through optimized model serving and real-time geometry analysis. In addition, you’ll champion AI-assisted development practices across the team, actively mentoring engineers on effective use of AI tools to accelerate delivery, improve code quality, and reduce toil.
  • Problem Solving and Decision Making: You will solve significant and unique challenges regarding data gravity and security. You'll create formal networks between Siemens’ and Xometry’s engineering groups to develop new ways of conducting operations—specifically regarding "ring-fenced" data governance where part files remain within the Siemens ecosystem.
  • Scope and Impact: You are responsible for establishing the strategic direction and leading the execution of the Siemens-Xometry integration. You will be a technical and business role model, ensuring that the integration of DFM (Manufacturability) and IQE (Pricing) AI engines creates a distinct, defensible edge for the Siemens partnership.
  • Collaboration and Communication: You will facilitate technical discourse across the entire Xometry organization, leading to durable, well-documented decisions. As a primary point of contact for senior leadership, you will guide risk/reward conversations and champion cross-functional development across our marketplace and data science teams.
  • Operational Excellence: You will define the reliability and security standards for our enterprise-grade deployments, whether Siemens-hosted or Xometry-hosted, ensuring seamless multi-tenant management.

What You'll Bring to Xometry

  • 12+ years of professional software development experience, with a history of scaling complex platforms.
  • Deep Technical Expertise: Expert-level mastery of Python, AWS infrastructure, and modern frontend frameworks (React/NextJS) used for complex enterprise applications.
  • Systems Architect: Proven experience shaping the technical direction of multiple teams and establishing engineering patterns as organizational standards.
  • Strategic Roadmap Execution: A track record of securing endorsement for 6-12 month initiatives and driving them to successful production deployment.
  • Communication Excellence: The ability to influence senior leadership and external partners on technical strategy and long-term technology investments.
  • Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.

You Would Be A Great Fit With

  • Platform Experience: Background in building "Software as a Service" (SaaS) platforms or complex B2B integration hubs.
  • Industrial Tech Background: Experience with manufacturing, logistics, or CAD/PLM software (NX, Teamcenter, Solid Edge).
  • Security & Governance: Deep understanding of enterprise data controls, dedicated tenants, and SOC2/ISO compliance within a cloud environment.
  • Distributed Systems: Experience architecting large-scale ML platforms or high-frequency marketplace engines.

What Xometry Will Bring To You

  • The base pay range for this role is $170,000 -$195,000. The total compensation package includes base, bonus, and equity.
  • Comprehensive benefits package including 401k match, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and generous paid time off.
  • A stipend for catered lunch on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We also offer a competitive benefits package, including 401(k) match, medical, dental and vision insurance; life and disability insurance; generous paid time off including vacation, sick leave, floating and fixed holidays, maternity and bonding leave; EAP, other wellbeing resources; and much more.

Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
