Xometry is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to contribute hands-on technical craft and architecture for a key global platform critical to Xometry's success (e.g., Buyer Experience, Partner Experience, Pricing, Quality, Sourcing, etc.). This role is a senior individual contributor position focused on building fast, reliable, and delightful solutions through customer-centric, AI-driven engineering.

As a founding Staff Software Engineer for Xometry's India PDT team, you will help elevate engineering practice, mentor engineers across the organization, and ensure our marketplace systems deliver measurable business value at scale.

Responsibilities

AI-Driven Development

  • Use AI tools fluently in your daily workflow, including code generation, review, debugging, and design exploration, to increase delivery speed without compromising quality.

Software Development & Technical Craft

  • Write and review architectural plans for new projects, then participate hands-on in implementation with the team.
  • Champion a good mix of traditional and cutting-edge technologies, knowing when to adopt something new and when to double down on what already works.

Problem Solving & Technical Judgment

  • Solve complex technical problems within your service or domain area, escalating cross-team tradeoffs where needed.
  • Exercise sound judgment when choosing the right technical approach for the problem at hand.

Code Quality & Mentorship

  • Perform code review and mentor other engineers on how to do good code reviews.
  • Serve as a mentor and guide to engineers across the organization, helping them grow their skills.

Scope & Operational Excellence

  • Own technical decisions within your service or domain area, driving delivery of software that meets or exceeds customer expectations while aligning with business timelines.
  • Help establish sound engineering practices for the India PDT team as it grows.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Partner with product managers, designers, and leadership to promote open communication and high engineering standards.
  • Work closely with Xometry's global engineering teams to align on technical approaches across time zones.

Founding & Scaling Xometry's India PDT

  • Contribute as an early engineer on the India PDT team, helping establish strong engineering practices from the ground up.
  • Help set a high technical bar for the team and mentor engineers as the organization grows.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience in a fast-paced, product-driven environment.
  • Marketplace product experience is highly desirable, with an understanding of scaling multi-sided platforms.
  • Hands-on proficiency with modern AI development tools (e.g., AI coding assistants, code-review copilots, agentic dev tools) and a track record of using them to meaningfully speed up delivery without sacrificing code quality.
  • Strong technical expertise in full-stack development, including:
    • Backend development with Python (services, APIs, data-driven systems).
    • Frontend development with React and TypeScript, with a focus on scalable UI design and usability.
  • Experience with AWS, including deploying, monitoring, and scaling production workloads.
  • Proven leadership skills, with the ability to set technical direction, mentor engineers across levels, and influence product and business decisions.
