About the Role
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Manager, Government Affairs to lead our government relations efforts across the European Union. In this role, you will develop and execute government affairs strategies to advance X’s policy and business objectives, fostering innovation and growth in AI and technology sectors. You will engage with EU government officials, regulators, and industry stakeholders, while collaborating with internal teams to ensure alignment with X’s regional and global priorities. The ideal candidate is adept at navigating complex regulatory landscapes, building strong relationships, and driving impactful policy advocacy in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement government affairs strategies to advance X’s policy and business goals within the EU.
- Build and maintain relationships with government officials, regulators, and industry groups to support advocacy efforts, including managing priority account escalations and training needs.
- Monitor and analyze EU government initiatives, legislative proposals, and regulatory changes, preparing comprehensive reports and briefings for internal stakeholders.
- Collaborate with legal, compliance, safety, and business teams to ensure consistent policy messaging and alignment with company objectives.
- Identify emerging policy risks and opportunities, particularly in digital tech, AI, and social media regulations, and recommend proactive strategies to support advocacy efforts.
- Represent X at industry forums, workshops, public consultations, and meetings to communicate key policy positions.
- Support business partners in Marketing, Sales, Communications, and Engineering with critical growth initiatives.
- Manage scheduling, documentation, and follow-ups for government affairs activities to ensure timely execution.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or a related role, with exposure to EU institutions.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government or regulatory stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of Europe’s political and regulatory environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to assess policy impacts and provide actionable insights.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Fluency in German or Dutch, in addition to English.
- Experience in digital tech, AI, or social media sectors, with knowledge of relevant regulations.
- Strong sense of ownership, enthusiasm for tackling complex challenges, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Experience mentoring or training others in government affairs or policy advocacy.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous, high-stakes environments while maintaining strategic focus.
