Having conducted a thorough review of the XTX’s long-term research objectives, and the compute power required to support it, we have committed to construct a fully owned and managed data centre campus to house the HPC Cluster in Kajaani, Finland, designed with flexibility and capacity in mind allowing for future scalability without constraints or impediments.

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Security and Safety Manager to lead our Security, Safety and Risk management. This multifaceted role involves developing and executing risk mitigation strategies, identifying potential threats to operations, ensuring a secure working environment and collaboration with Emergency Services Authorities.
The Security and Safety Manager will coordinate internal security and safety measures, including staff training and security protocol implementation, and act as the primary liaison with external stakeholders such as authorities and security service providers. This position is critical to maintaining operational continuity and responding effectively to security incidents.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of data centre or large-scale industrial operation from the security management point of view.
The role is full-time, permanent, with the primary work location in Kajaani.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Security Management and Guarding
- Perform data centre security duties and follow procedures to ensure the safety of employees and property.
- Plan and implement security measures for guests, stakeholders, and maintenance personnel visiting the data centre.
- Ensure surveillance system functionality and support investigations when needed.
- Conduct front desk security and security patrols to prevent unauthorized access
- Address issues related to security, fire, and health & safety.
- Perform random checks of key/access registers and lockers to ensure compliance with XTX security policies.
- Prevent unauthorized individuals’ access to the data centre campus.
Safety Operation
- Serve as a safety expert across unit and group-level operations, as well as in designated investment and development projects.
- Provide consultation and advisory support on safety-related matters to operational units.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute safety training programs and emergency preparedness exercises.
- Develop, update, and manage safety instructions and plans; issue formal safety statements as required.
- Contribute to hazard identification, risk assessment processes, and ongoing risk management monitoring; offer expert guidance in these areas.
- Participate in the investigation and analysis of safety incident reports.
- Function as the primary administrator for safety-related systems, including platforms for video surveillance, access control, safety reporting and chemical safety management.
Occupational Safety and Cooperation with Authorities
- Design, implement, and regularly update site-specific emergency response and evacuation plans for data centre facilities.
- Coordinate and lead scheduled evacuation, fire, and rescue drills with minimal disruption to operations.
- Collaborate with facility manager, data centre operators, and external emergency services to align protocols and response strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments focused on electrical, fire, HVAC, and physical security hazards in collaboration with data centre operators.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, industry standards and company policies.
- Train data centre staff and contractors on emergency and security procedures.

Experience
- Master's or bachelor's degree in security or related field preferred. Specialist vocational qualification for security officers preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in data centre or related industrial security management.
- In-depth knowledge of security best practices and processes, access control, video surveillance, fire detection- and fire alarm technologies.
- Valid Security Officer and Security Guard license.
- Knowledge of fire detection and alarm equipment.
- Strong understanding of industry standards and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Proven experience in security coordination.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and emergency response frameworks.
