2026 Summer Analyst
Position: Summer Analyst (Summer 2026)
Application Deadline: May 18, 2025 at 11:59 PM ET
Are you excited by the prospect of meeting best-in-class investment managers, venture capitalists, and hedge fund managers? Are you intellectually curious, analytical, personable, and eager to work for a meaningful cause? If so, this is a position unlike any other in finance.
Yale Investments is widely regarded as one of the top institutional investors in the world, achieving market-leading returns over the past 30 years. Under the leadership of our Chief Investment Officer Matthew Mendelsohn, Yale Investments implements the Yale Model, an investment framework many other leading institutional investors have adopted. Today, the Endowment invests in U.S. and foreign equities, hedge funds, leveraged buyouts, venture capital, real estate, and natural resources. Over the last 20 years, the Yale Endowment has contributed over $22 billion to the University’s operating budget, contributions that enable Yale to maintain its generous financial aid, extraordinary teaching, and state of the art research.
Summer Analysts work closely with the full-time investment professionals who run the University’s $41 billion endowment. Unlike narrowly defined internships on Wall Street, this experience offers the unique opportunity to learn about a wide variety of asset classes and investment strategies. Summer Analysts work on analytical projects across asset classes and take part in Yale’s engagements with potential investment managers. In addition to offering full-time positions for successful interns, we have helped facilitate opportunities to work for Yale’s world-class investment partners. Past interns have gone on to internships and full-time positions with Yale’s hedge fund, venture capital, real estate, and natural resources managers.
In the past, Summer Analysts have worked on various projects, including:
- Facilitating the screening, selection, and monitoring of investment managers through background research, manager meetings, and portfolio analysis
- Assessing the Asian venture capital and biotech landscape for potential opportunities
- Exploring the viability of investments in emerging markets such as South America
- Analyzing the performance of Yale’s venture capital investments after going public
- Evaluating the economic and environmental merits of peat bogs as a potential investment
The internship consists of the summer program in which interns rotate through working on our private- and public-market asset class groups. Successful interns have been offered full-time positions upon graduation and/or the opportunity to continue interning at the office during the following school year(s).
We are looking for interns with excellent analytical abilities and writing skills as well as a sense of humor. All majors are encouraged to apply. Applications are due May 18th.
For your application, please include the following:
- Answer only one application question (in 250 words or less). Note there are two for applicants to choose from.
- Resume and Transcript: Upload your most recent academic transcript (unofficial is acceptable) and your resume as a single document using the "Resume/CV" field below. You can use Adobe's website to combine pdf files.
We encourage all potential candidates to visit the Yale Investments website.
