Position Summary
Join our Class of 2026 Yes Energy Interns and enjoy the opportunity to work on exciting projects to shape your career in the RTO Insider group. The intern position will support the editorial team through research and operational assistance. This role focuses on helping editors and reporters stay informed, organized, and efficient while producing timely and accurate coverage of energy markets. - Hourly Rate Range:
- $19.00/hr - 1st year Intern
- $20.00/hr - 2nd year Intern
- $21.00/hr - 3rd year Intern
- $22.00/hr - 4th year Intern
- Reports to: Senior Vice President Editorial
The intern will learn and be exposed to
- Hands-on experience supporting a professional energy market publication
- Exposure to ISO/RTO market structures and regulatory workflows
- Mentorship from experienced editors and reporters
- Practical experience in editorial research and operations
Project Work
Your official project depends on what skills you have and what skills you are looking to develop. They could include the following:
- Researching and summarizing regulatory or market developments for internal use
- Creating or improving internal research and tracking tools
- Supporting coverage planning by monitoring upcoming ISO/RTO meetings and deadlines
- Assisting with process improvements or documentation updates
- Presenting research summaries or operational insights to the editorial team
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research to support editorial planning and reporting, including reviewing ISO/RTO filings, stakeholder materials, and regulatory documents
- Track and organize information from public meetings, agendas, and market notices
- Assist with fact-checking and verification of information
- Support editorial operations by formatting, tagging, and preparing content in the CMS
- Help manage editorial calendars, deadlines, and workflow tracking
- Maintain internal documentation, research trackers, and reference materials
- Provide general operational support to the editorial team as needed
Requirements
- Ability to synthesize complex or technical information clearly
- Comfortable managing multiple tasks and deadlines
- Interest in energy markets, public policy, or industry research
- Strong understanding of Google Suite for Business or MS Office
- Strong research and organizational skills
- Problem-solving and critical thinking
- Ability to prioritize based on opportunities and effectively multitask
- Detail oriented
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A strong desire to learn, grow, and explore new things
- Pursuing a degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, Economics, or a related field with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with research, fact-checking, or editorial support
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
- Coursework or exposure to energy, economics, or regulatory topics
- Strong Excel or document management skills
