Technical Accounting and Reporting Manager

Yieldstreet is seeking a Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting Manager to join a collaborative and growing team. This person will be responsible for direct oversight of all activities related to technical accounting and financial reporting of the broader Finance Team. You will have an opportunity to provide strategic and technical leadership through owning the initial review of all complex unusual transactions and serving as an in-house expert while partnering closely with the Legal, Operations, Tax, Fund Admin, Investments and the broader Finance team to support all workflows.

Specific areas of focus include accounting for loans and receivables (ASC 310), financial instruments – credit losses (ASC 326), consolidation (ASC 810), stock-based compensation expense (ASC 718), debt (ASC 470), revenue recognition (ASC 606), internally developed software (ASC 350). In addition, you will have an opportunity to successfully build and maintain strong relationships with external auditors and tax advisors. As a successful candidate, you have a strong work ethic and motivation to learn, as well as meticulous attention to detail. You are also results-oriented, looking for professional growth in a broad range of financial disciplines within alternative investments space, and are excited to make a large impact at a high-growth innovative financial-tech company.

What You'll Do:

- Conduct and document technical accounting research related to new business initiatives and / or complex transactions
- Responsible for internal and external financial reporting
- Responsible for maintaining comprehensive accounting policies and performing ad hoc technical accounting analysis to identify accounting impacts, processes and procedures as we continue to grow and scale our business
- Support the review of legal documents specifically related to short-term notes
- Perform and document monthly / quarterly and annual controls
- Lead the evaluation and adoption of new accounting pronouncements
- Proactively work with the external auditors to drive timely closure of technical accounting matters and financial reporting
- Support month-end close processes
- Perform various ad-hoc projects as requested

What You Have:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- CPA required
- 7+ years’ work experience including Big4 or a mix of public accounting and industry experience
- Very strong analytical skills, research skills and business acumen - ability to rapidly come up to speed on new issues and identify the critical questions to be addressed
- Initiative and results-oriented, with a focus on continuous improvement
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to work well with direct and cross-functional teams as a leader and a collaborator; experience partnering with internal and external partners to perform accounting, reporting, and financial operations
- Highly communicative, organized and able to prioritize when presented with competing tasks
- Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a complex organization; able to think independently and challenge/escalate issues in an appropriate manner.
- Demonstrated aptitude of general business computer applications
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Excellent quantitative and qualitative skills, including strong oral and written communication
- Commitment to work in high-paced, dynamic and collaborative environment

Compensation:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $120000 - 140000+  (Actual salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.) Compensation package also includes generous, bonus, benefits and equity.
