Lead Data Architect

At YPrime, we help our clients in the pharma and biotech industries to collect data from patients using mobile devices, assign patients to study treatment groups, and dispense clinical trial drugs and supplies using web apps.  We’re supporting life-altering research, one project at a time. 

YPrime is searching for a Lead Data Architect. 
This role is responsible for designing and leading the enterprise data architecture strategy across both integrations and analytics platforms.



Here’s what we need from you

  • 10+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles
  • Deep expertise in Snowflake, SQL Server, and NoSQL databases, as well as modern data transformation and orchestration frameworks such as DBT and advanced data pipelines
  • Strong experience with DBT and data pipeline orchestration (e.G., Dagster, Airflow, or similar)
  • Demonstrated ability to optimize Snowflake for cost and performance in production environments
  • Deep understanding of data modeling (3NF, Star Schema, cDISC standards)



Here are some more details about the job: 

  • Own the end-to-end data architecture strategy, covering integrations, data warehousing, analytics, and operational data flows.
  • Define and enforce best practices for data modeling, governance, lineage, and metadata management.
  • Lead the transition from legacy SQL Server workloads to Snowflake and cloud-first solutions.
  • Provide architectural oversight for NoSQL use cases (e.g., MongoDB, Cosmos DB) to support unstructured and semi-structured data needs.
  • Architect robust ETL/ELT pipelines leveraging modern orchestration tools and DBT for transformation consistency.
  • Guide the design of real-time and batch integrations between operational systems, external partners, and sponsor-facing analytics.
  • Ensure pipelines meet performance, resiliency, and compliance requirements for clinical trial data.
  • Design and implement cost-efficient Snowflake solutions, including:
    • Optimal warehouse sizing and scaling.
    • Storage optimization (micro-partitioning, clustering, pruning).
    • Performance tuning (query optimization, caching, result sets).
  • Partner with Finance and Engineering to monitor and forecast Snowflake spend.
  • Establish cost guardrails and automated monitoring for Snowflake usage.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on all data architecture decisions.
  • Mentor data engineers, analysts, and developers in data design and DBT best practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers and clinical data SMEs to align data design with business goals.
  • Represent the Data Architecture function in governance, compliance, and sponsor-facing initiatives.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, a related field, or an equivalent amount of related professional experience
  • Experience working with Greenhouse Applicant Tracking System – or a closely related tool
  • Experience working with UKG or a similar HRIS system
