We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Vice President of People to lead Yugabyte's global people strategy during a critical growth phase. This leader will be responsible for building and scaling HR programs that align with our business goals, support our high-performance culture, and enable our teams to thrive across geographies.
Reporting to the General Counsel, you will serve as a key people leader and strategic partner to the executive team, helping to shape our people strategy that attracts, develops, and retains world-class talent. You will drive the design and execution of HR initiatives that strengthen engagement, advance diversity and inclusion, and scale our culture in line with Yugabyte's core values.

Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute a global HR strategy aligned with Yugabyte's mission and growth objectives
- Partner with executive leadership to design an organization that scales efficiently while preserving our core values and culture
- Serve as a trusted partner to the General Counsel and leadership team on all people-related matters
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Partner with TA leadership to attract top talent globally, ensuring a strong pipeline for critical roles across engineering, sales, and operations
- Implement effective onboarding, leadership development, and succession planning programs
- Foster a learning culture that encourages innovation, ownership, and continuous improvement
Culture & Engagement
- Champion initiatives that strengthen trust, build strong internal and external relationships, and deliver measurable outcomes
- Lead engagement strategies to maintain high morale, productivity, and retention during periods of rapid growth and change
- Drive diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts to ensure an equitable and inspiring workplace
Operational Excellence
- Oversee HR operations, compliance, and policies across multiple countries
- Implement scalable HR systems and analytics to support data-driven decision-making
- Manage global compensation, benefits, and rewards strategies to remain competitive in the software industry
Required Qualifications & Experience
- 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a senior HR leadership role at a technology company
- Experience scaling HR functions in a high-growth environment (Series B-D stage preferred)
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, compliance, and HR best practices across multiple jurisdictions
- Demonstrated experience building and implementing HR programs and policies with measurable results
- Track record of successfully partnering with executive leadership on strategic people initiatives
- Experience managing the full employee lifecycle, from recruitment to offboarding
- Proven ability to develop and implement effective talent management and development programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a distributed or global technology organization
- Background working with engineering-led organizations and technical talent
- SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or equivalent HR certification
- Experience with HR technology implementation and optimization
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL database industry or open-source software business models
- Prior experience supporting rapid headcount growth (100-500+ employees)
- Experience building HR functions from the ground up in a startup environment

- Compensation and Benefits
- We feel strongly about equal pay for equal work, and transparency in compensation is one way to help achieve that. The cash compensation for this role is market competitive, with a range of $260,000 - $325,000, as well as a discretionary bonus and participation in Yugabyte’s equity plan. As well as equity (when applicable), and benefits including health plans, retirement plans, and unlimited paid time off (PTO). The pay range for this position is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The actual pay will vary based on factors including experience, qualifications, and skill level.
