Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned DevOps Engineer who is passionate about building scalable infrastructure while maintaining a relentless focus on cloud unit economics. You will lead our FinOps initiatives, ensuring our cloud footprint (AWS/GCP/Azure) is high-performing, secure, and cost-efficient.
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure Ownership: Lead the design and management of cloud infrastructure using IaC (Terraform/Pulumi), ensuring cost-efficiency is baked into the architecture from day one.
- FinOps Leadership: Establish and drive cloud cost-optimization strategies, including rightsization, lifecycle management, and committed use discounts (RIs/Savings Plans).
- Cost Visibility & Reporting: Build automated dashboards (using tools like CloudHealth, Kubecost, or native Quicksight/Looker) to provide granular visibility into spend by department, project, or microservice.
- CI/CD Optimization: Maintain and evolve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions) with a focus on reducing "build waste" and optimizing ephemeral environment costs.
- Anomaly Detection: Implement automated alerting for cost spikes and unexpected resource utilization to prevent "cloud bill shock."
- Collaboration: Work closely with Finance and Engineering leadership to set cloud budgets, track KPIs (like cost per transaction), and advocate for a "cost-conscious" engineering culture.
- Observability: Manage full-stack monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK) to correlate performance metrics with cost data.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5 years of professional experience in DevOps, SRE, or Cloud Engineering.
- Cloud Expertise: Deep hands-on experience with AWS , GCP, or Azure. Professional-level certifications are a plus.
- FinOps Proficiency: Proven track record of reducing cloud spend without compromising performance. Familiarity with the FinOps Framework (Inform, Optimize, Operate).
- Automation: Advanced scripting skills in Python or Go for automating cost-saving tasks (e.g., auto-stopping dev environments, identifying orphaned volumes).
- Containerization: Strong experience with Kubernetes (EKS/GKE) and knowledge of how to optimize k8s resource requests/limits.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex cloud billing data into actionable business insights.
- Communication: Strong ability to influence engineering teams to adopt cost-saving best practices.
