Job Description:

This position requires a US Department of Defense or Intelligence SECRET clearance or higher.

We are seeking a highly motivated, visionary Principal Solution Engineer to lead Yurts’ deployment efforts across our customer base. In this role, you will provide technical leadership across multiple deployments for the Yurts Generative AI product for US Department of Defense, Intelligence, and commercial customers. There, you’ll leverage DevOps tooling (e.g., Infrastructure as Code, GitOps tools, etc.) and your experience deploying complex enterprise software for large organizations, including the US government. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise in owning similar deployments end-to-end, both through direct hands-on involvement and leading a technical team. You will also be the face of Yurts for customer and partner technical teams, achieving alignment and buy-in on technical approaches and mitigating risk. Alongside deployment, you will own application tuning and customization to meet customer requirements, including developing custom data integrations, building new functionality into the Yurts platform, and more. You will work closely with other Federal Delivery Engineers and the Yurts Platform teams to improve product deployment efficiency and configurability. 

Responsibilities:

• Lead deployment of the Yurts GenAI Product in customer compute environments using Kubernetes/Docker, Infrastructure as Code, and related technologies.
• Own technical delivery plan and customer technical communications at all levels and manage scope and risk across customer engagements.
• Develop automation scripts for provisioning, monitoring, backing up, patching, and deploying the Yurts product and underlying services.
• Prepare packages required for application security Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M), Authorization to Operate (ATO), Certification to Field (CTF), and other security requirements presented by US Government Risk Management Frameworks (RMF).
• Ensure deployed applications have high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery capabilities.
• Work closely with product software engineering teams to integrate their project deliverables into customer production cloud and on-premises environments.
• Troubleshoot complex system issues and work with customers, partners, and internal development teams to identify root causes and resolve them.
• Stay current with new technologies and recommend innovative solutions that increase value and improve efficiency.
• Enforce compliance with security best practices and policies.
• Participate in the creation of the company's strategic IT roadmap.
• Willingness to travel 25% to customer locations, company events, and conferences.

Qualifications:

• An active US Department of Defense or Intelligence SECRET or TS/SCI clearance (no polygraph required).
• A BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
• CompTIA Security+ Certification.
• 10+ years of experience as a Solution Engineer with DevOps experience, or equivalent software-engineering role.
• Extensive experience leading application deployments to AWS, Azure, and/or Oracle Cloud environments, as well as on-premises data centers.
• Experience with a variety of data storage technologies, including relational databases, NoSQL technologies, Elasticsearch, and others.
• Experience with containerization and deployment of Machine Learning models.
• Experience delivering software to multiple environments using automation and configuration management technologies.
• Experience building deployment systems for rapidly developing and changing applications.
• Strong experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, especially Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, FluxCD/ArgoCD, etc, and enthusiasm to evaluate new ones for potential adoption.
• Experience deploying rapidly evolving software and maintaining a flexible deployment paradigm to enable rapid iteration.
• Experience deploying commercial software products into government customer environments.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, partner vendors, end users, and cross-functional teams.
• Experience writing and leveraging infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or similar).
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (i.e Bash, Python).

Preferred Qualifications:

• An MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related fields.
• Experience with optimizing scale of production machine learning solutions involving orchestration of multiple models and data stores.
• Experience in startup environments.
