The Role
We're looking for a Staff Product Designer to help shape the future of how we design and build at ZenBusiness—someone who brings deep technical fluency, design systems thinking, and a genuine curiosity about emerging technology.
This role is ideal for a designer who is energized by the intersection of craft and capability—someone who sees AI and automation not as replacements for design judgment, but as amplifiers of it. You're comfortable with code, excited by experimentation, and believe the best design tools and systems are the ones that get out of the way so teams can focus on solving real problems.
Initially, you'll focus on scaffolding AI-driven automation for our design system—working closely with the VP of Design and Engineering partners to build workflows that increase quality, consistency, and velocity across teams. As this work stabilizes, you'll shift toward product innovation, applying the same technical depth and strategic thinking to evolving our platform experience through rapid prototyping and enhancing our tooling.
This role is hands-on, collaborative, and forward-looking — with space to mentor others, shape how we work, and influence the practice of design at ZenBusiness.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development of AI-driven automation and tooling for our design system — including automated component generation, design-to-code workflows, token management, accessibility checking, and other innovations that improve efficiency and quality
- Partner closely with Engineering to build and implement technical solutions, bringing a strong understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS/JS) and implementation constraints to design decisions
- Experiment extensively with generative AI, identifying opportunities to integrate emerging technologies into design workflows, rapid prototyping, and product features
- Contribute to ZenBusiness's AI-powered product offerings, bringing a design perspective and technical understanding to shape experiences that feel coherent and thoughtful
- Collaborate with Design Systems and Brand partners to ensure automation and tooling reinforce brand guidelines, personality, and coherence across the platform
- Mentor designers and share knowledge across the team — helping others understand new tools, workflows, and approaches while fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous improvement
- Bring clarity to ambiguity by defining thoughtful paths forward, identifying opportunities, and rallying cross-functional partners around shared direction
- Advocate for experience quality and technical excellence, setting a high bar for craft, judgment, and innovation
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, forming opinionated views on how to incorporate them effectively into day-to-day work
- Build and maintain Figma plugins or similar tools that extend our design capabilities and streamline workflows
What We’re Looking For
- A designer with strong technical fluency — comfortable with code (HTML/CSS/JS) and able to work at the intersection of design and implementation
- Extensive experience experimenting with generative AI and a deep understanding of how to leverage it for design system automation, productivity gains, and rapid prototyping
- A track record of building or contributing to design systems, tooling, and workflows that scale across teams
- Genuine curiosity about emerging technologies, with the ability to separate signal from noise and apply new capabilities thoughtfully
- A bias for action paired with strategic thinking — someone who addresses challenges head-on with a plan rather than waiting for direction
- Strong design judgment and craft sensibility, ensuring technical solutions elevate rather than compromise experience quality
- A collaborative mindset and desire to mentor others, sharing knowledge, and helping elevate the overall capability and standards of the team
- Comfort operating in ambiguity and leading through influence, building trust and momentum across Product, Engineering, Brand, and Design partners
- Experience with Figma plugins, design-to-code tools, or similar technical design tooling is a strong plus
- Prior experience in UI engineering, design technology, or front-end development is highly valued

Qualifications
- Significant experience as a senior product designer shipping complex, user-centered digital products
- Demonstrated ability to build or significantly contribute to design systems and technical design infrastructure
- Strong portfolio showing both design craft and technical problem-solving — ideally including examples of tooling, automation, or system-level thinking
- A history of working closely with Engineering partners to deliver thoughtful, high-quality experiences
- Hands-on experience with generative AI tools and a clear perspective on their effective application in design practice
