Position Summary
The Manufacturing Team at Zenni is known for its reliability and accuracy and quality of operations, which are critical for our global brand! Our team values include dedication, as we are always committed to producing high quality for our Zenni customers even through challenging times. We also value efficiency, to ensure we get our product delivered to customers as quickly and affordably as possible. We are currently looking for a strong Supervisor to join our team at our brand new state of the art facility in Columbus, Ohio. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of optical operations and people management experience.
Shift: Fri - Sun 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Oversee and direct the day to day production manufacturing operations to ensure orders meet daily targets
- Suggest and contribute to process improvement initiatives to improve department efficiency and scalability
- Applies various industry problem solving and productivity techniques to evaluate the improvement of recommended strategies and programs
- Maintain adequate department supplies, placing orders as needed
- Provide regular updates and escalate issues to Production Manager as needed
- Conducts investigations and tests pertaining to the development of new manufacturing methods, materials or processes, and investigates possible applications of results
- Maintain machinery within the department along with working with the maintenance team to ensure the full capacity of the machines
- Leads and supports root cause analysis investigations, recommends and executes corrective actions and preventative actions
- Other duties as assigned
Staffing and Management:
- Maintain an organized, safe and healthy work environment for shipping employees
- Anticipate staffing needs; participate in the recruiting process or work with temporary agencies as needed
- Monitor daily employee productivity targets
- Provide ongoing training, feedback and coaching as needed
- Act as a liaison between workers and management and report on production activities and issues
- Provide training to new team members and ongoing as needed
Physical Labor:
The job requires the individual to be able to lift, transport, pull and push up to 50 pounds regularly. Must be able to regularly stand, walk, lift carry, push, pull, climb, bend, and perform other general duties. Be physically able to work an eight (8) hour day or more while on your feet as this position will spend majority of the time standing. Physical demands also include climbing, reaching, walking, sitting, grasping, repetitive motions, and visual acuity.
Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a leadership manufacturing operations environment
- Minimum 2 years of experience with optics (preferred)
- Knowledge of workplace safety best practices
- Mechanical knowledge of machinery
- Very reliable, able to work on-site Monday – Thursday as well occasional overtime and weekend hours
- Strong interpersonal, conflict management, time management and communication skills
- Strong judgment, able to make independent decisions and solve problems
- Technical ability and competent in software tools including Microsoft Office Suite and various optical management software
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing)
- Authorization to work in the United States required
