Position Overview
As an Account Director, you will serve as a leader at Zero with an opportunity to define the client relationship and account growth practice. This role’s core focus is account growth (services and sales) and so we expect an entrepreneurial and business-oriented approach. You’ll be working directly with the Partners & Directors to manage 3-4 $1M+ accounts ranging across branding, digital, and marketing.
Your primary responsibility will be collaborating and leading our team(s) to create the best work possible in an enjoyable, engaging, and positive environment. Specifically, within our Accounts team, you’ll be responsible for managing 1-3 individuals, as well as helping to set the right team structure and people on the account.
You will be managing a high volume of projects and will be the primary point of contact for our clients, so expert organization, attention to detail, and communication skills are a must. Defining and implementing a high degree of customer service as well as measurable value will be vital to your success.

Roles & Responsibilities
Account Growth & Strategy
- Serve as the trusted strategic partner to clients, understanding their business goals, challenges, and industry landscape.
- Be entrepreneurial minded and constantly look for ways to improve our clients' business results and mutually beneficial ways to expand our working relationship.
- Develop high-impact quarterly and yearly roadmaps.
- Manage contract negotiations, renewals, and forecasting.
Client Relationship Management
- Manage client relationships and ensure client satisfaction, starting in the sales process and extending throughout the life of our relationship with the client.
- Ensure all deliverables meet agency standards, KPIs/goals, and SOW requirements.
- Navigate and resolve challenges related to delivery.
- Continually meet with the client (ideally IRL) for strategic brainstorms, account planning, and as apart of conferences & events.
Team Management & Leadership
- Guide small-to-medium, multi-disciplinary teams toward the common goal of executing on-brief creative projects.
- Approach every project with a clear purpose and ensure all executions meet client and user goals.
- Keep a team constantly organized, over-communicate, avoid assumptions, and forecast risks to provide a contingency plan should risks become realities.
- Excellent time management, resource management, and planning skills
- Oversee & manage junior team members by conducting regular 1-on-1 check-ins and individual reviews, providing mentorship and feedback throughout your work together, and facilitating career growth via goal identification & tracking, measuring progress, and finding new opportunities that spur individual growth
- Identify opportunities to improve internal systems and increase efficiency
Skills & Competencies
- Well versed in project management and communication tools including Notion, Asana, Google Suite, and Slack
- Can clearly demonstrate your passion for the role and communication skills needed to be successful
- You have managed at least 5+ web projects (ideally with ecommerce)
- You have managed at least 5+ brand, packaging or print production projects
- You have managed 2-3 mid to large-sized accounts for at least 1 year
- You have completed 3 content creation projects that included photography, video, illustration or similar
Years of Experience
- 7+ years of Account/Project Management experience within a creative industry
Reporting Structure
- This position reports to the Managing Director and will manage a small number of Direct Reports.
Working Location
- Zero has physical studio spaces in Brooklyn and Milwaukee. Staff are expected to occasionally work in these locations during the work week. Additional details can be discussed during the interview process.
