Sr. Engineering Manager - C++

WHO YOU ARE:

Senior Engineering Managers lead our engineering teams in the design, development/configuration, unit testing, installation, and ongoing maintenance of Zinnia’s software platforms. They work with stakeholders to develop solutions and/or products that fulfill the needs of Zinnia internal stakeholders and clients. Those solutions and/or products help Zinnia and Zinnia clients to be more efficient and provide better service to end customers. Engineering Managers interact directly with project leaders, business stakeholders, and directly with Zinnia clients.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

•  Work as part of a global, cross-functional team to develop innovative software for Zinnia stakeholders.
• Be accountable for well-designed, customized, testable, efficient projects for company platforms.
• Lead our teams in providing ongoing support, troubleshooting, improvements, or custom enhancements to existing company platforms.
• Occasionally participate in on-call rotations and/or provide after-hours support.
• Collaborate with our global teams, internal stakeholders and customers.
• Act as a subject matter expert for junior team members.
• Lead in defining the requirements for custom built software projects.

 WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• 9+ years of software development experience.
• Undergraduate degree in technology, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Knowledge and experience working in the insurance industry
• Extensive knowledge of cross-platform C++ development using CMake and Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Strong knowledge of the Windows Subsystem for Linux
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Active Template Library for C++
• Strong Mathematical Skills
• Strong desire to work on back-end systems and services
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines in GitHub (GitHub Actions)
• Demonstrated expertise with software engineering tools (Visual Studio Code, Eclipse, etc) and methodologies (Kanban, Scrum, etc).
• Experience with Microsoft Windows, Office.
• Excellent work ethic. Ability to work and travel independently.
• Demonstrated strategic thinking skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills. Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Desire to work as part of a cross-functional, global team.
• Experience with of advanced technical concepts (examples: design patterns, SOA, SaaS, SDLC, DDD).
