Finance Operations Manager

WHO YOU ARE:
The Finance Operations Manager will provide support and guidance to staff accountants throughout the US Finance Operations. The Zinnia Finance Operations Department contains support all accounting practices, reconciliations, accounts payable, tax, and abandoned property. The Finance Operations Manager is responsible for the management and direction of the accounting work for the financial functions related to life, annuity, and other product types that Zinnia Clients bring.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Effectively Handle Internal and External Communication
- Encourage ongoing excellence, quality and customer service
- Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and industry trends
- Lead, coach and develop team to ensure departmental goals are obtained
- Directly responsible for supervising team associates and monitoring daily work related to all account reconciliations to ensure client and regulatory service level agreements are being met
- Reporting and escalating system related deficiencies and monitoring progress of items reported until resolved. Communicate and escalate items to Zinnia management, as needed.
- Validating accuracy of work performed by Zinnia finance associates and approval of the final reconciliation process as required each month
- Development of process efficiencies and ensure implementation of the process is completed in a timely matter
- Conduct one on one conversation, assist with developing performance goals and perform performance evaluations of direct reports. Coaches, facilitates and develops staff within the department with the ability to develop and motivate staff
- Ensuring customer satisfaction and strive to meet & exceed service standards.
- Developing and maintaining a solid working knowledge of the insurance industry and of all products, services and processes performed by the team.
- Adhere to company policies and US state & federal guidelines when facilitating transaction processing.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree in business related field required, bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred
- Three to five years of supervisory experience including conducting employee performance evaluations and development of direct report performance goals preferred
- Three to five years of experience working with all aspects of general ledger from reconciliations through financial statements
- Strong analytical skills with drive to streamline and create efficient processes
- Experience to identify possible discrepancies of administrative systems and tax reporting with ability to propose and escalate solutions
- Experience with general ledger account reconciliations and an ability to analyze and resolve discrepancies timely
- Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger theories and understanding of information processing systems
- Willingness to develop industry related knowledge
- Good interpersonal/human relations and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently, make decisions and effectively communicate with all levels within Zinnia
- Flexible team player; with ability to prioritize multiple tasks
