
Business Analyst

WHO YOU ARE:
As a Business Analyst at Zinnia, you will contribute to the planning, analysis, and execution of projects aimed at transforming our professional services. This role involves detailed requirements gathering, process documentation, and ensuring that project deliverables align with business objectives.
You will have a background in the annuity and insurance industry, including a solid background in the interdependencies between Operations, Technology Capability areas (key systems, platforms) and departments outside of delivery (Finance, Fund Management, Compliance, Tax). You will be able to build relationships with internal and external team members across technical and non-technical teams.
The Business Analyst will have a strong grasp of requirements gathering and estimation, leveraging internal resources to research current processes and functionality by client. You will demonstrate strong attention to detail, be a problem solver and translate between the External Client, Product Management, Information Technology, Operations, and Management teams to ensure requirements are captured with excellent business writing skills to create content such as Scope documents.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Operational Analysis & Support
- Conduct research and provide in-depth analysis to support informed decision-making by management.
- Collect and evaluate data to measure and improve the efficiency of service operations and associate performance.
- Contribute to the development of cost/benefit analyses related to operational improvements and strategic initiatives.
Process Documentation & Support
- Document workflows, procedures, and business processes to support operations-led initiatives.
- Create and maintain consistent guidelines to ensure repeatable, high-quality processes.
- Support work-specific deliverables to enable successful delivery of the work in production for production issues and clean up to support the business lines.
- Perform QA testing to support new functionality, new products and onboarding of new carriers.
- Review and sign-off on test results for new functionality.
Project Participation & Collaboration
- Actively participate in special projects such as system enhancements, regulatory updates, carrier onboarding, product launches, and business conversions.
- Provide input into onboarding programs, training workshops, and implementation planning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure project goals are aligned and operational impacts are addressed.
Consulting & Communication
- Build effective relationships across departments and carriers to facilitate process enhancements and knowledge sharing.
- Review and consult on content and materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with operational objectives.
- Present findings, insights, and process improvements clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Strategic Insight & Industry Awareness

- Monitor and analyze consumer trends, competitive positioning, and industry developments in life and annuity products and services.
- Utilize business intelligence to identify innovation opportunities and operational improvements.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; a combination of education and equivalent experience (minimum of 5 years in a relevant financial industry role) may be considered.
- At least 2 years of experience as an Operational Analyst or similar role within the life or annuity sectors.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written—with confidence to present to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Effective facilitation and consulting skills; ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable items.
- Flexible and adaptable to meet evolving project needs and internal/external client expectations.
Good to have
- Experience with annuity/life insurance operations such as administration, distribution, customer service, or transaction processing.
- Exposure to training development or facilitation, especially in business operations or analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital documentation
