IT Automation Engineer

WHO YOU ARE:

The IT Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automation solutions that streamline IT operations, improve reliability, and enable self-service capabilities across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments. This role will focus on infrastructure-as-code, automated remediation (self-healing), and provisioning processes that enforce organizational standards while empowering other teams through secure automation portals and workflows.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Automation & Scripting
  • Develop, maintain, and optimize automation scripts using PowerShell, Ansible, Python, and Bash for both Windows and Linux systems.
  • Build Jenkins pipelines for continuous integration and deployment of automation workflows and scripts.
  • Design and implement reusable automation modules for provisioning, patching, service restarts, and configuration compliance.
  • Self-Healing & Monitoring Integration
  • Collaborate with the monitoring and NOC teams to design automated response playbooks that remediate common alerts and incidents.
  • Integrate monitoring tools (e.g., ManageEngine Ops Manager, Zabbix, or custom scripts) with automation platforms for self-healing actions such as restarting services, cleaning queues, or scaling resources.
  • Maintain audit trails and reporting for automated actions to ensure transparency and compliance.
  • Infrastructure & Cloud Automation
  • Develop automation to enforce infrastructure standards when deploying servers and applications across AWS and on-prem environments.
  • Use Ansible and PowerShell DSC to ensure consistent system configuration and compliance.
  • Create provisioning workflows to automatically tag, secure, and configure new systems to align with corporate policies.
  • Web Portals & Self-Service
  • Develop and maintain web-based self-service portals (using Jenkins, PowerShell Universal Dashboard, or equivalent frameworks) for administrative tasks such as user creation, server provisioning, and system maintenance.
  • Provide secure, role-based access controls to allow IT and business teams to safely perform pre-approved tasks.
  • Automate approval workflows and integrate with Jira or ServiceNow where applicable.
  • Collaboration & Documentation
  • Partner with cross-functional teams including Infrastructure, Security, Cloud, and DevOps to identify automation opportunities.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of scripts, workflows, and architectural decisions.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of automation governance, version control, and testing practices.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • 3–5+ years of experience in systems administration or automation engineering.
  • Strong proficiency with PowerShell and Ansible for configuration management and automation.
  • Solid understanding of Jenkins pipelines and CI/CD orchestration.
  • Experience managing automation across Windows and Linux platforms.
  • Experience with AWS automation (CloudFormation, boto3, AWS CLI, or Terraform) to enforce consistent provisioning.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON, and integrating automation with third-party systems.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory, Entra ID, and enterprise authentication models.
  • Familiarity with Git or other source control systems.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Security-minded with focus on least-privilege automation.
  • Passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.


BONUS POINTS:

  • Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, or similar workflow integration.
  • Experience developing PowerShell Universal Dashboard, Flask, or other lightweight web UI tools for self-service.
  • Exposure to Python or Go for automation scripting.
  • Knowledge of Ops Manager, Nagios, or other alerting systems.
  • Experience in ITIL-based environments with automation-driven change and incident management.

The expected salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 dependent on skills and location. The salary range is a good faith estimate based on what a successful candidate might be paid in certain Company locations.
