
Staff Accountant

WHO YOU ARE:
As a Staff Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the company's financial records, ensuring completeness and accuracy, while supporting the Accounting team. You will assist with month-end close processes, reconciliations, financial reporting, and other duties.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Reconciling and maintaining accounting records as needed for the coordination, preparation and submission of various required reports including verifying, balancing, and reconciling various kinds of transactions and reports
- Prepare month-end reconciliations and supporting schedules. Timely identify and resolve reconciling items
- Prepare journal entries in various areas, including but not limited to cash, prepaids, AP, accrued expenses, payroll, debt, lease, goodwill, intangibles and related amortization, fixed assets, and prepaids
- Partner with each Zinnia site location to track and timely reconcile intercompany transactions. Investigate and timely resolve issues to ensure proper month-end financial reporting
- Assist with annual audits and provide auditors required documentation
- Document financial statement close process activities that occur to maintain effective control environment
- Review P&L coding to ensure proper presentation of related costs
- Track and record corporate cost allocations
- Keeping track of month-end close checklist to ensure timely month/quarter-end close
- Collect and provide information needed for the annual financial statement preparation
- Assist with internal ad-hoc reporting/requests
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- CPA Preferred
- 2-4 years of experience in corporate environment
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles required
- Strong to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using NetSuite a plus
- Able to multi-task in fast paced environment
- Detail oriented with strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Ability to take initiative and work independently, in a team environment
- Strong verbal and written communications skills

- Industry knowledge in Life Insurance, Insurtech, or Fintech is a plus
