Legal Intern - Summer 2025

WHO YOU ARE:
Zinnia is looking for a Legal Intern to support and work with the Zinnia Legal, Compliance and Risk (LCR) team. As a Legal Intern you will work closely with the LCR team to ensure that our operations comply with relevant laws and regulations, mitigate legal risks, and protect the company's interests. This internship is designed to provide you with practical exposure to the legal field and an opportunity to develop your legal skills in a corporate environment.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Conduct legal research on a variety of topics, including industry regulations, privacy, technology, and emerging legal issues. Summarize findings and present them to the legal team, providing insights and recommendations.
- Assist in the review, drafting, and negotiation a variety of legal agreements, including but not limited to, contracts, licenses, NDAs, and other legal documents.
- General support of the LCR team, which includes analysis advice on matters such as corporate governance, due diligence activities, risk analysis, and policies and procedures.
- Assist in maintaining and updating LCR databases and repositories, tracking regulatory changes, and reviewing company activities for compliance.
- Stay up to date with changes in the insurance and financial industry, including changes to laws and regulations that may impact the company's operations.
- Assist with other legal matters as needed, potentially including intellectual property, data privacy, employment law, strategic transactions, and regulatory compliance.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- Currently pursuing a law degree (Juris Doctor or Canadian equivalent) from an accredited law school.
- Excellent legal research, writing, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong academic record.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
