The Mid-Market Account Executive you will play a pivotal role in expanding our footprint within the payments, BNPL, and checkout ecosystem. This role requires a highly strategic and consultative sales approach, targeting mid-market (annual sales below $500M) merchants to drive adoption of Zip’s payment solutions. You will be responsible for navigating complex sales cycles, influencing key stakeholders, and developing tailored go-to-market strategies that align with Zip’s mission to revolutionize the way consumers pay.

You’ll be responsible for:

Strategic Account Qualification & Mapping:

  • Own and actively manage a portfolio of 30-40 high-value accounts, ensuring each account aligns with Zip’s ideal merchant profile and demonstrates clear market readiness.
  • Conduct deep-dive account research to identify buying signals, key decision-makers, and strategic initiatives that align with Zip’s value proposition.
  • Leverage data-driven insights and market trends to prioritize outreach and timing of engagement.

Mid-Market Sales Execution:

  • Lead high-impact, multi-stakeholder sales engagements with mid-market (<= $1BN annual revenue) merchants, including C-suite, finance, and product teams.
  • Navigate complex sales cycles (6-12 months) by driving urgency and managing parallel workstreams, including legal, compliance, and technical integrations.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive outbound and inbound sales strategies tailored to merchant needs, industry trends, and competitive positioning.

Pipeline Development & Forecasting:

  • Maintain a proactive, metrics-driven approach to pipeline generation, consistently meeting or exceeding top-of-funnel targets by securing 8+ discovery meetings per month.
  • Drive consistent deal progression through Salesforce and other sales tools, ensuring data accuracy and accountability in forecasting.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, product, and implementation teams to refine outreach strategies and improve conversion rates.

Payment & Checkout Expertise:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in payments, BNPL, checkout experiences, and consumer financing, effectively communicating how Zip’s solutions drive incremental revenue and enhance merchant conversion rates.
  • Guide merchants through the technical and operational aspects of Zip’s payment integration, acting as a trusted advisor in the broader payments ecosystem.
  • Stay ahead of evolving trends in payments, e-commerce, and fintech to continually refine sales strategies and merchant conversations.

Performance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Monitor and analyze sales performance metrics, adjusting strategies in real-time to optimize outreach effectiveness and deal velocity.
  • Participate in weekly performance reviews and strategic planning sessions to ensure alignment with quarterly revenue goals.
  • Contribute to thought leadership and internal sales enablement by sharing best practices, competitive insights, and industry developments.

What you’ll bring to the team

Must-Haves:

  • Proven Enterprise Sales Success: 4+ years of full-cycle B2B sales experience, with a focus on selling payments, checkout, or consumer finance solutions to mid-market and enterprise merchants.
  • Payments & BNPL Expertise: Deep understanding of payment processing, merchant acquiring, BNPL solutions, and checkout optimization strategies.
  • High-Velocity Sales Execution: Track record of successfully managing and converting high volumes of enterprise accounts within sales cycles of 6-12 months.
  • Multi-Stakeholder Influence: Experience selling to cross-functional teams, including finance, risk, product, and engineering stakeholders.
  • Tech-Savvy Approach: Proficiency in Salesforce, sales automation platforms, and analytics tools to drive efficiency and data-backed decision-making.
  • Adaptability & Growth Mindset: Ability to synthesize market feedback, iterate sales strategies, and pivot in a fast-moving fintech landscape.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience selling within key retail verticals such as fashion, electronics, or entertainment.
  • Familiarity with e-commerce platforms, PSPs, and retail technology ecosystems.
  • Background in consultative or solution-based selling within fintech, payments, or SaaS.

Zip is committed to a straightforward and transparent pay structure. The actual base salary will be determined by various individualized factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, location, internal equity, as well as other objective business considerations.

The annual base Pay Range for this position is $105,000 - $140,000 USD. In addition, you will be eligible for a commission of equal value to the base pay range, making on-target earnings (OTE) a range of $210,000 to $280,000 (50% base salary and 50% commission). This range reflects our US national compensation band. Additional premium percentages may apply based on our tiered premium location-based strategy.

Subject to those same considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a bonus and/or equity awards, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. 

If hired, employees will be in an 'at-will position' and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation or benefit program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
