This 12-month contract is an opportunity to shape the foundations of Zip’s risk and control framework at a pivotal stage of maturity. Sitting at the heart of our Finance function, you’ll bring expertise, curiosity and influence to strengthen internal controls, support the journey toward SOX compliance, and uplift the operational processes that underpin our financial reporting. Your work will make a meaningful, lasting impact on Zip’s future as part of a high-visibility role with exposure across the business.
What you’ll own
- Develop and deliver the uplift of Zip’s first line risk and control environment across the Finance function
- Collaborate with teams in Financial Control, FP&A, Tax and Treasury to build high-quality process documentation including flowcharts, process narratives and Risk and Control Matrices
- Partner with Zip’s Risk and Compliance team plus control owners across Product, Technology and Operations to identify improvements and uplift key financial reporting controls
- Work closely with regional teams to ensure consistency in risk and control practices and knowledge-sharing
- Drive enhancements to control processes by working with Zip IT, leveraging automation tools, workflow platforms and AI-powered solutions
- Manage relationships with external auditors and consultants throughout audit engagements
- Establish audit-preparedness protocols and scalable documentation standards
- Track and report on control readiness, uplift activities and remediation progress
- Act as the subject matter expert for risk and controls within Finance, including providing training on risk management and SOX compliance
What you’ll bring to the team
- CA or CPA qualification, or an international equivalent
- Experience gained over approximately 6 to 10 years in finance or external audit, ideally with exposure to Big 4 environments
- Background in SOX compliance, including design, implementation and ongoing management
- Strong understanding of Risk and Control Matrices, walkthroughs, testing documentation, remediation plans and controls monitoring
- Clear and compelling communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences
- Confidence working both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- An ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders
- A mindset built on curiosity, problem solving and continuous improvement
- Experience within fintech, payments or BNPL environments is an advantage
- Familiarity with Governance, Risk and Compliance platforms is useful
- A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
