As our new Senior Director, Data & AI, you’ll define the vision and strategy that unlocks the full power of data and intelligence across the organisation. You’ll accelerate our data and AI maturity, build upon the foundations for responsible and scalable innovation, and lead the creation of AI-powered solutions that transform how we serve our customers and merchants.

Reporting to the CIO, you’ll lead a high-performing team of data scientists, engineers and analysts - championing ethical AI and embedding intelligence into every decision, experience and product we deliver

What you’ll own

  • Lead the design and delivery of Zip’s enterprise data and AI strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer outcomes.
  • Establish and scale data and AI governance frameworks that safeguard accuracy, accessibility and security.
  • Lead and inspire a high-performing team that brings together expertise in data engineering, analytics, experimentation and generative AI.
  • Drive the implementation of advanced analytics, machine learning and AI models that enable smarter decisions and transformative customer experiences.
  • Partner with senior leaders across Zip to identify high-impact data and AI opportunities, ensuring investment in solutions that deliver measurable business value.
  • Champion a culture of innovation, continuous learning and ethical AI practices.

What you’ll bring to the team

  • Extensive experience in data and analytics leadership roles, ideally within financial services or technology-led environments.
  • Proven success designing and executing data and AI strategies that support large-scale business transformation.
  • Deep technical understanding of data management, cloud-based platforms and modern AI frameworks.
  • Strong leadership skills, with a track record of building diverse, high-performing teams and inspiring cross-functional collaboration.
  • Exceptional communication skills, capable of translating complex insights into clear, actionable outcomes for senior stakeholders.
  • Experience navigating regulatory frameworks relevant to data and AI in financial services.
  •  A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
  • An aptitude for identifying and managing risks. Whether you are a People Manager or an Individual Contributor, we are all leaders at Zip, therefore effective risk management is important to how we run our business and part of all our roles.
